  • Patent number: 6389768
Abstract: A door comprising a laminated panel having a peripheral frame defining the peripheral edge thereof. The laminated panel comprises an outer skin of thermoplastic material impregnated with opaque pigmentation and an inner substrate intimately bonded with the outer skin. The inner substrate is formed of a relatively rigid thermoplastic material impregnated with a filler. The outer skin defines a three dimensional door surface which presents the texture and at least a part of the color of the exterior appearance of the door in use.

  • Patent number: 5568713
Abstract: A mirror door comprising a door with opposed faces, one of which has a recess therein, and a mirror seated within the recess. The mirror has a light reflective front face and a rear face disposed against the door, and is cooperatively dimensioned with the recess to locate its periphery adjacent the periphery of the recess. The mirror is secured in the recess of the door by two adhesives. The first rigid adhesive is disposed between the peripheral portions of the rear face of the mirror and the door recess, and the second adhesive is disposed between the mirror and door inwardly of the peripheral portions. The first adhesive is relatively rigid in comparison to the second adhesive to mount the mirror on the door in a fixed position, and the second adhesive is relatively flexible to accommodate differential expansion between the door and mirror and to dampen impact forces acting between the door and mirror. A method for making a mirror door is also provided.

  • Patent number: 5560168
Abstract: A hollow core door has a perimeter frame with stiles and top and bottom rails, and a pair of skins secured to the perimeter frame. One skin has an aperture therein with its side margins spaced inwardly of the perimeter frame, and inner frame elements are disposed between the margins of the aperture and the stiles, secured to at least one skin. A mirror with dimensions smaller than those of the aperture is secured in a molding which extends about its periphery of the mirror, and the molding has a peripheral portion overlying the skin about the side margins of the aperture and a body portion which extends inwardly of the door. The molding is secured against the skin.
