    Abstract: This disclosure relates to a program controlled apparatus, system and method for identifying taxable financial transactions, collecting data based on the transactions and calculating any sales and/or use taxes due on the transactions. The apparatus comprises a first database having a directory of parameters identifying all domestic government authorities by zip code, geocode, and by jurisdiction name requiring payment of taxes. A second database is provided having a directory of parameters identifying the taxability of goods and/or services for each jurisdiction identified by zip code, geocode, and jurisdiction name in the first database. Also, a third database has a directory of parameters identifying all domestic sales, use and rental tax rates for each zip code, geocode and jurisdiction name.

    Abstract: A method, apparatus, and computer program device enabling a computer network switching device to inform an attached requesting device of switch ports affected by configuration changes during the period of time since the last query by the particular requesting device. The switch device is initialized with a change index and data vector, the latter indicative of an initial port configuration. The switch increments the index in response to subsequent port configuration change events, and stores in association with the incremented index a data vector indicating the ports changed during the corresponding event. The switch stores an array of associated index and vector values. The switch responds to a query from an attached requesting device by informing the requesting device of specific ports affected by one or more configuration changes since the index value held by the requesting device was the current index value in the switch.

    Abstract: Apparatus for electrically testing a connector includes a plurality of contact posts (i.e., connector pins) partially surrounded by a sidewall defining an opening adjacent ends of the posts. In one embodiment a translator fixture is interfaced with a plurality of test probes. The translator fixture has a plurality of spaced apart translator plates and holes aligned in the plates for containing and supporting translator pins extending through the plates for positioning the translator pins for direct contact with and engagement by conductive pins of a guide block assembly mounted on the outermost one of the translator plates. The conductive pins are slidably mounted in the guide block assembly. The conductive pins extend from the guide block assembly so as to directly contact, be substantially coaxial with, and engage the distal ends of the contact posts.

A shaker table supports the fixture to be loaded together with a pin cassette containing a plurality of pins with their bottom ends resting on the fixture. A funnel or chute is located below the shaker table to catch spare pins and direct the pins into a collection container or drawer which has one or more angled internal baffle walls for orienting the pins in the same direction.

    Abstract: A central time-of-day reference is integrated into a switch which interconnects I/O devices and host processors in a computer complex via fiber-optic links. A time reference oscillator in the switch serves to generate incrementing reference signals for the central reference and also provides a clock signal for the switch transmissions. Units to which the switch is attached obtain clock signals from their regenerated clocks which are synchronized to the time reference oscillator, and use the regenerated clock signals to control their local time-of-day references. Each unit periodically transmits a signal to the switch requesting a dynamic connection to the switch-based central time-of-day reference in order to receive a time of day message.

In the power off state only a detector and a power controller require power, this power is supplied from a power source. Upon detection of traffic a frame decoder is powered up to receive frames. When the link is quiet, the decoder is powered down while the power controller and receiver remain powered and await further traffic.
