  • Patent number: 4647633
Abstract: The hydrocarbon fluid friction reducing properties of copolymers of two or more alpha-monoolefins having 2 to about 30 carbon atoms is improved by copolymerizing the monomers in the liquid state by means of a Ziegler catalyst and a two-component activator system comprised of a trialkylaluminum compound and a dialkylaluminum halide compound.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: November 7, 1985
Date of Patent: March 3, 1987
    Assignee: Atlantic Richfield Company
    Inventor: Robert J. Kostelnik
  • Patent number: 4559164
Abstract: Poly(butylene terephthalate) injected molded articles which contain small uniformly distributed amounts of amorphous carbon or graphite powder, or graphitic carbon in the form of fibers, or any combination thereof, are electroconductive and possess decreased tendency to accumulate charges of static electricity. Minor amounts of glass fibers, polycarbonate resins and rubbery impact modifiers improve the electroconductivity imparted by the carbon.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 9, 1982
Date of Patent: December 17, 1985
    Assignee: General Electric Company
Inventors: Robert J. Kostelnik, Allen D. Wambach
  • Patent number: 4414352
Abstract: Flame-retardant thermoplastic molding compositions having improved physical and electrical arc track resistant properties are provided, the compositions comprising an intimate admixture of(a) a high molecular weight poly(1,4-butylene terephthalate) homo- or co-polyester,(b)(i) a copolymer of ethylene and vinyl acetate in combination with an aromatic polycarbonate;(ii) poly(ethylene terephthalate); or(iii) reinforcing glass;(c) a flame retardant agent; and(d) a mineral filler.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 15, 1980
Date of Patent: November 8, 1983
    Assignee: General Electric Company
Inventors: Stuart C. Cohen, Robert J. Kostelnik, Allen D. Wambach
  • Patent number: 4373067
Abstract: Modified thermoplastic polyester molding compositions are provided which comprise (a) a poly(1,4-butylene terephthalate) resin and (b) a modifier therefor comprising at least one member of the group consisting of cis-polybutadiene, poly(butadiene-acrylonitrile), and poly(isoprene-isobutylene), and, optionally: (c) one or more poly(C.sub.2 -C.sub.6 -alkylene phthalate) resins; (d) an aromatic polycarbonate as supplementary modifier for improving the resistance of articles molded from the composition to fracture on impact; (e) polyethylene as carrier for said component (b); (f) one or more fillers and/or reinforcing agents; and (g) a flame retardant.
