  • Patent number: 6289876
Abstract: A clamping device for clamping a fuel injector to the cylinder head of an internal combustion engine, the fuel injector having a fuel injector body including a injector nozzle tip includes a hold down device for clamping to an object and a seal device for effecting a fluid seal with a plurality of fluid passageways defined in the cylinder head, the sealing device associated with each fluid passageway being compressible by a unidirectional force applied to the hold down device. A fuel injector for an internal combustion engine, the fuel injector having a fuel injector body including a injector nozzle tip includes a hold down device for clamping to an object and a seal device for effecting a fluid seal with a plurality of fluid passageways defined in the object, at least one seal device having a dimensional range in which an effective seal is made, the dimensional range being at least as great as the range of manufacturing tolerances existing is between the fuel injector and the object.

  • Patent number: 4099368
Abstract: A control apparatus is provided for controlling a gathering unit mounted on a forage harvester for vertical articulative movement about a transverse axis thereon, the control apparatus including a main lever pivotally mounted on the forage harvester frame and operatively attached by a tension apparatus to the gathering unit, a lifting apparatus interconnecting the frame and main lever through a lost motion connection for selectively engaging the main lever to lift the gathering unit, a floatation spring lever having a first pivotal connection and a second detachable connection with the main lever, and a floatation spring assembly interconnecting the spring lever and the frame, the floatation spring assembly counterbalancing a portion of the weight of the gathering unit when the detachable connection between the spring lever and the main lever is attached and being ineffective when the detachable connection is detached.

  • Patent number: 4072062
Abstract: A self-cleaning sprocket, especially for use with an endless belt having internal drive lugs in a crop gathering unit, being a body of material having a disk-like base portion and a plurality of radial ribs extending axially from the base portion and converging to a central hub portion, the ribs and base center portion defining a plurality of open-ended lug-receiving pockets. The portion of the base portion in the pockets slopes axially toward the open end from the periphery to the hub portion and the hub portion slopes radially inwardly from the base portion to the open end, the intersection of the hub and base portions being filletted to promote the flow of debris from the base portion to the hub portion. The axial end of the sprocket is preferably flat and without obstructions and extends beyond the lateral edge of the belt. The sprocket is preferably mounted with the pockets in a generally upright position from its opposite axial end whereat a second plurality of pockets are formed.

  • Patent number: 4049207
Abstract: A forage harvester of the type having a rotary reel cutterhead and a feed roll mechanism for feeding crops to the cutterhead is provided with improved drive means for the feed roll mechanism including a forward chain drive arrangement incorporating intermediate shafts and an electromagnetic clutch and a reverse chain drive arrangement incorporating a second electromagnetic clutch, both drive arrangements being driven from the cutterhead drive and driving a common output shaft operatively connected with the feed roll mechanism. An electrical remote control switch operates the electromagnetic clutches for mutually exclusive engagement, or with neither clutch engaged, to produce remotely controlled shifting of the mechanism between forward, idle and reverse drives.
