  • Patent number: 4306638
Abstract: A suspension strut has a helical suspension spring which is supported by the reservoir tube of a hydraulic shock absorber. The shock absorber incorporates linear bearings between telescoping tubes thereof. The tube and bearing construction of the shock absorbers strenghtens the strut so that it effectively resists bending loads occurring during vehicle operation. This construction allows the piston rod of the shock absorber to be smaller in diameter and lighter in weight as compared to prior shock absorbers and to stroke without binding or sticking.
