  • Patent number: 4403792
Abstract: Glyolic acid esters and amides of bis(p-disubstitutedaminophenyl)carbinols are disclosed as color formers for use in transfer sets.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 26, 1982
Date of Patent: September 13, 1983
    Assignee: American Cyanamid Company
Inventors: Frank F. Cesark, Robert J. Manfre, Daniel W. Thomas
  • Patent number: 4401585
Abstract: Bis(p-alkylphenylethynyl)anthracenes are described for use as fluorescer components in chemiluminescent reaction mixtures and in precursor solutions or solid mixtures. Chemiluminescent mixtures comprising these fluorescers are shown to generate higher light capacity and higher quantum yields than those made with similar prior art fluorescers.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: January 21, 1982
Date of Patent: August 30, 1983
    Assignee: American Cyanamid Company
Inventors: Frank J. Arthen, Jr., Robert J. Manfre
  • Patent number: 4343939
Abstract: Glyolic acid esters and amides of bis(p-disubstitutedaminophenyl)carbinols are disclosed as color formers for use in transfer sets.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: April 22, 1981
Date of Patent: August 10, 1982
    Assignee: American Cyanamid Company

  • Patent number: 4308395
Abstract: An improved single-pot process for synthesis of 3,5,6-trichlorosalicylic acid and esters thereof is described. Salicylic acid is chlorinated first in concentrated sulfuric acid and then with iodine catalyst to make the trichlorosalicylic acid which is extracted and then reacted with an alcohol to make the ester.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: July 11, 1980
Date of Patent: December 29, 1981
    Assignee: American Cyanamid Company
Inventors: Robert J. Manfre, Arthur G. Mohan, Michael M. Rauhut
