  • Patent number: 6113603
Abstract: The present invention relates to a graft constraint device (10), having the main object of constraining graft material (1) packed into a bone defect or a space for buttressing an adjacent bone fragment, the graft material being autologous bone, allograft bone, xenograft, organic or inorganic material, "bone paste" or other similar materials. The graft constraint device (10) has a constraint end (12) and a fastening end (13), at which the device (10) is applied to a stable bone cortex with suitable fasteners (11).

  • Patent number: 6077266
Abstract: In order to install a fracture fixation fastener at an acute angle in an underlying bone in a hole is provided in a support plate at a particular angle and with a particular diameter in relation to the thickness of the plate and the diameter of the fastener to enable the fastener to be installed within a pre-determined angular range which is asymmetrical relative to a line perpendicular to the plate.

  • Patent number: 5941878
Abstract: An implantable surgical device for fixation of one or more bone fragments or grafts to an adjacent stable bone. The device is formed by a U-shaped wire having a U bend portion and two legs extending from the U bend portion, the device being secured near the U bend portion by a fixation device including a washer and a bone screw to a stable bone. The distal ends of the legs are formed with pointed projections or with bends providing projections extending out of the plane of the U-shaped wire to penetrate the surface of the bone fragment or graft and provide translational constraint of the fragment or graft.

  • Patent number: 5931839
Abstract: The present invention relates to an implantable element for fixation of one or more fractured bone fragments (9) to a stable bone fragment (10). The element comprises a pin plate (1), which is fixed to the stable bone fragment (10) by one or more screws (7) or the like. To fixate the loose bone fragments (9) one or more pins (8) are passed through holes (3) in the pin plate (1), through the loose bone fragments and further into the stable bone fragment (10). The end of the pin is locked to the pin plate (1) in any suitable way. The form of the pin plate (1) is adapted to the intended site of use.

  • Patent number: 5718704
Abstract: The present invention relates to an implantable buttress plate (1) for fixation of volar rim fragments (11) at the distal radius (10). The plate (1) is of L-shape with holes (5) in one or both of the legs of the L. The holes (5) are designed for receiving fasteners, e.g. bone screws (6). The plate (1) has a shape adapted to the intended use.

  • Patent number: 5709682
Abstract: The present invention relates to an implantable clamp for fixation of one or more bone fragments (82, 85) to a stable bone (81). The clamp has two basic functions, namely a buttress function and a clamp function. Either function or both may be employed depending on the fracture picture. The clamp has a first part (71) having a front part bent into a buttress (79) and/or into a lower part (77) of a clamp. Further, the clamp may comprise a second part (72) constituting the upper part (73) of the clamp. A screw (74) is used to secure the clamp to the stable bone (81). The buttress (79) of the clamp is utilized to press an intra-articular fragment (85) against an adjacent joint surface. The clamp (73, 77) is utilized to capture and secure a bone fragment (82).

  • Patent number: 4628923
Abstract: An axial compression device for the fixation of a fractured bone comprises an assembly including a lag screw and a retaining member secured to bone fragments on opposite sides of a fracture and an angled slide member adapted to be connected to the lag screw and cooperable with the retaining member for providing a compressive force between the bone fragments. The lag screw and angled slide member are especially adapted to achieve simultaneous fixation of a secondary fracture which may also be present.
