  • Patent number: 4800695
Abstract: An electrical raceway floor track and a partition embodying such floor track wherein the floor track is an elongate aluminum extrusion with a relatively wide upwardly opening lower channel connected to a relatively narrower upwardly opening upper channel by a solid rigid vertical wall. Wallboards and studs are supported by the upper channel, utilities are disposed between the channels and base trim strips are attached to the lower channel to hide the track and utilities. Electrical boxes and cable shelves are easily mounted between the channels with clips engaging ridges in the channels. Shallow grooves guide during screw insertion and provide lines of weakness for removal of short narrow sections where needed.

  • Patent number: 4704837
Abstract: A wall construction wherein a sheet of paper covered gypsum wallboard has at least one V-shaped groove formed part way through the thickness of the wallboard, and a sheet of rigid bendable sheet metal, conforming to one surface of the wallboard, along the groove area, is laminated to the wallboard whereby folding of the wallboard and sheet metal, along the groove, closing the groove, results in a folded section which remains firmly folded by reason of the folded rigid sheet metal laminate.

  • Patent number: 4700515
Abstract: Formed sheet metal clips, affixed relative to a wall panel being mounted, support the panel on a central downwardly extending hump in the clip, which provides a pivot point permitting slight rotation of the vertically extending panel, for easy placement in exactly the desired vertical extent prior to affixing the panel in place, as by screws or adhesive. The clips may be affixed to the panel bottom or to a floor track and may additionally provide means for affixing a wall base trim.

  • Patent number: 4693047
Abstract: A wall framework consisting essentially of vertical studs formed of sheet metal and horizontal channels extending through openings in the webs of the studs and locked firmly in the bottom portion of each opening by bendable sheet metal tabs formed at the sides of the upper portion of each opening, which tabs, when bent relatively inwardly, engage and hold the channel firmly in a desired position.

  • Patent number: 4689930
Abstract: A partition wall in which a plurality of sections are adjoined by a plurality of vertically spaced apart hollow clips having a tightenable screw protruding from each to which a section of wall is to be affixed, with each screw head being placed through a hole in the web of a metal stud near the end of each wall section, with the screw head screwed tight against the stud web material.

  • Patent number: 4642418
Abstract: A wall-mounted electrical utility module is disclosed which provides an open, rectangular frame mounted in an opening in one side of a wall. The adjacent, opposite panel closes the rearward side of the frame and cooperates therewith to provide a module chamber. Flange means are provided on the frame which include adjustable plates. The side plates abut with adjacent panels and the upper and lower plates overlap the wall panels above and below the opening. The plates are secured to the wall studs to provide a firm mounting for the module. A removable cover provides access to the module interior. The cover provides sound insulation and a resilient seal. The cover is spaced from the wall so that cords can pass under the edge of the cover and be plugged into receptacles provided within the module.

  • Patent number: 4628656
Abstract: A demountable wall system is disclosed in which panels are removably connected to H-shaped metal studs. The principal structure of the panel is provided by a wallboard having a width less than the modular spacing between studs. Sheet metal mounting strips are adhesively secured along the opposite edges of the wallboard and are positioned with respect to each other so as to provide the assembled panel with an exact modular width. Each mounting clip includes a connector portion which releasably secures the panels to the studs and a finish portion which extends along but is spaced from the side edges of the wallboard. A facing sheet of flexible sheet material is laminated to the forward face of the wallboard and extends across the gap between the finish portion of the mounting clips and the wallboard to hide such gap. The facing sheet then extends back along the finish portion and is provided with an edge positioned where it is not likely to be loosened during the handling and assembly of the panels.

  • Patent number: 4603229
Abstract: An electrical service module for wall installation is disclosed. The module includes upper and lower plate assemblies which extend between adjacent studs and are supported at their ends on such studs. Various types of electrical outlets are mounted on such plate assemblies and are supplied with conductors which extend along the wall cavity. A cover is removably installed to cover the opening of the module, and provides a resilient seal around its periphery to seal the module opening. The cover is spaced from the wall along at least two edges and the seal is locally compressed by conductors or cords extending into the module along such edges.

  • Patent number: 4574547
Abstract: A window system for demountable walls is disclosed which eliminates the necessity of custom-sizing of windows to compensate for variations in floor-to-ceiling spacing. The window system provides jacking means mounted on the lower window frame member which are operable to adjust the height of the window from the floor to compensate for variations in floor-to-ceiling spacing. A floor trim assembly includes cover plates which extend up and over the lower framing member and jacking system to obscure both from view. Such cover plates rest on the floor to provide a uniform height lower window trim that follows the floor line. A baseboard and upper trim system extends uniformly along the window and adjacent wall panels to provide an integrated window and wall system. The side framing members connect to sheet metal wall studs for additional strength and enclose the adjacent stud in instances in which windows are mounted adjacent to each other.

  • Patent number: 4514945
Abstract: A window insulating system including horizontally and vertically arranged channel members positioned in a window wall opening and spaced inwardly of the window surface. Insulating panels are positioned in the channels and can either be opaque fiberglass panels or translucent or transparent panels of glass or plastic. Horizontal channels are secured adjacent the upper edge of the window wall opening and can be secured adjacent the lower edge of the window wall opening or can be above that surface. The vertical channels are frictionally attached to the panel member and the panels plus vertical channels are slipped into the horizontal channels and are thus easily removable for access to the window for maintenance or cleaning purposes. The outer edges of the outermost vertical channels adjacent the vertical window wall opening edges are formed from a resilient material and include an integral, outwardly extending sealing strip which is in sealing engagement with the adjacent window opening edge.
