  • Patent number: 10249160
Abstract: Successive products associated with targets to be electro-optically read are swiped, in their respective turns, past a window in a point-of-transaction workstation. A motion detector detects movement of each product. A reader electro-optically reads a target associated with each moving product. If the target associated with each moving product has not been read, then this event is deemed suspicious, and the event is flagged for a security investigation designed to deter product theft by sweethearting.

Date of Patent: April 2, 2019
    Assignee: Symbol Technologies, LLC

  • Patent number: 9686637
Abstract: A Bluetooth master device is paired with a Bluetooth slave device that is selected from a group of Bluetooth slave devices that are in Bluetooth-discoverable range with the Bluetooth master device. The master device establishes with the slave devices unauthenticated communications, each containing a Bluetooth device address of the master device. The slave devices receive from the master device the Bluetooth device address. The selected slave device recognizes a manual action manually performed with the selected slave device by a user. The selected slave device initiates a pairing request, in response to recognition of the manual action, and communicates with the master device at the received Bluetooth device address.

  • Patent number: 8960551
Abstract: A method of decoding using an imaging scanner having multiple object sensors each associated with an object field of view. The method includes determining a moving direction of the object using at least two of the multiple object sensors. The moving direction of the object points from a first side to a second side of the imaging scanner. The method includes detecting whether a new object is presence with the object sensor located on the first side of the imaging scanner, and upon detecting the presence of the new object within the object field of view of the object sensor located on the first side of the imaging scanner, capturing an image of the new object in memory with the solid-state imager.

  • Patent number: 8600407
Abstract: A method and apparatus for identifying a Bluetooth connection between a cradle and at least one handheld data capture device that includes a barcode reading arrangement or an RFID reader. The apparatus includes a cradle configured to accommodate a handheld data capture device detachably settled therein. The apparatus also includes a connection indicator configured to be activated, in response to a find-connection command, if a Bluetooth connection between the cradle and the handheld data capture device is identified. In some implementations, the connection indicator is on the cradle and it can be a light emitting diode, a speaker, or a vibration generator.
