  • Patent number: 11959132
Abstract: Methods and devices are provided for simultaneously amplifying a plurality of sample wells for a predetermined amount of amplification, detecting whether amplification has occurred in a first set of the wells, amplifying for an additional amount of amplification and detecting whether amplification has occurred in a second set of the wells. Methods are also provided for analyzing a target nucleic acid sequence using melt curves that were generated in a plurality of amplification cycles.

  • Patent number: 11927357
Abstract: A system includes a plurality of thermostats corresponding to a plurality of HVAC systems that serve a plurality of spaces and a computing system communicable with the plurality of thermostats via a network. The computing system is configured to, for each space of the plurality of spaces, obtain a set of training data relating to thermal behavior of the space, identify a model of thermal behavior of the space based on the set of training data, perform a model predictive control process using the model of thermal behavior of the space to obtain a temperature setpoint for the space, and provide the temperature setpoint to the thermostat corresponding to the HVAC system serving the space. The plurality of thermostats are configured to control the plurality of HVAC systems in accordance with the temperature setpoints.

  • Patent number: 8024459
Abstract: One embodiment relates to a method for monitoring a remote network over the Internet. In the method, a monitoring request from a client is received from over the Internet at a server. The server transmits a relayed monitoring request over the Internet to a remote network monitor. The remote network monitor is adapted to passively monitor the remote network based on the monitoring request, thereby detecting whether an unfavorable communication condition is met the remote network.

  • Patent number: 4625574
Abstract: Method and apparatus are disclosed for obtaining a field sample from a body of liquid which preserves sample quality against deterioration resulting from contamination, aeration, or escape of volatile components. The procedure involves fitting the field sampling container with septum cap and sealed end closures after the sample is taken and using the container for transport and storage of the sample prior to analysis.

  • Patent number: 4279021
Abstract: There is disclosed herein a data entry device designed for general use, and whose functional configuration may be readily changed to meet the specific needs of a number of different customers, each requiring a special assortment of operational features. The device (10) includes a housing (12) having a keyboard (14) including function control and data entry portions (18 and 20). In one embodiment, a plurality of different overlays (22) may be received over the function control portion of the keyboard. Each overlay carries an array of key labels (26), and is pliant enough to permit an underlying key to be actuated by depressing an appropriate key label. Tabs (30, 32, 34) projecting from the frame (24) carrying the overlay actuate switches (132, 134, 136) in the device to identify which overlay is carried by that frame. Other means of identifying the overlays to the data entry device are also shown. A different, permanent set of keys is provided for data entry in this embodiment.

  • Patent number: 4163356
Abstract: A structure is provided which may be advanced into the limb area of a fruit tree and which defines a plurality of outwardly opening fruit stem engaging notches. The notches include narrow open outer ends and wide inner ends and are inclined to discourage the entry of fruit bearing stems into the notches as the structure is advanced into a fruit tree limb area and to encourage movement of fruit bearing stems into the notches as the structure is withdrawn from a fruit tree limb area. A first basic form of the invention comprises a manually operable elongated wand-type tool with the notches thereon spaced longitudinally along the tool.
