  • Patent number: 11960334
Abstract: Cable assemblies for providing electrical communication between hinged sections of an electronic device are described. The cable assemblies can include a cover that covers one or more cables that run through a hinge region of the electronic device. The cable and cover can be drawn over a mandrel of the hinge region. The cover and the portions of the mandrel can be visible to a user at the hinge region of the electronic device. The cover can be sufficiently rigid to guide a path of the cable and protect the cable from bending beyond a prescribed angle during rotation of the electronic device at the hinge region. The cover can also be sufficiently rigid to prevent ceasing or folding of the cover and the cable during rotation of the electronic device at the hinge region.

  • Patent number: 11921367
Abstract: A switchable privacy display comprises a spatial light modulator with output polariser, a reflective polariser, a polar control liquid crystal retarder and an additional polariser. The electrodes of the polar control liquid crystal retarder are patterned with a mark. In wide angle and narrow angle operational modes, the electrodes of the liquid crystal retarder are driven such that the mark is not visible. In a mark display state, the electrodes are driven to provide visibility of the mark in reflected light to an off-axis observer.

  • Publication number: 20090177431
Abstract: A combination weather station and USB hub having an AC power source and a heat sink. The heat sink serves to dissipate heat generated by the AC power source and the internal components of the hub, in order to prevent the temperature readings of the weather station's thermometer from being compromised.

  • Patent number: 7503450
Abstract: A slip roller conveyor has a frame comprising a pair of parallel, spaced-apart side plates. Secured to each of the side plates is a plurality of annular rollers with a predetermined pitch distance between adjacent rollers. The annular rollers have tubular sleeves of a lesser diameter projecting outward from a side surface thereof. The tubular sleeves on an opposed pair of annular rollers fit into the lumen of a longer tubular roller with a clearance fit. The annular rollers on each of the side plates are driven by an endless belt that also surrounds a motor-driven nose roller.

  • Publication number: 20030140306
Abstract: A system for remote data entry and verifying the accuracy of data entry is disclosed. The invention comprises a system and method for inputting information from a form or other source, defining a plurality of data fields in the form to be entered and verified such that each data field defines and corresponds to at least one unique data entry; dividing each unique data entry into snippets of information, scrambling the snippets to ensure confidentiality and security; transmitting the scrambled snippets to remote end users for data entry and verification; receiving back entered and verified data entry from remote end users, and accepting the data entry as accurate if two or more end users or other data entry sources enter and verify the data identically.

  • Patent number: 5941648
Abstract: A computing assembly which comprises a hand held computer or PDA that contains a housing, a processor in said housing and an input/output arrangement in said housing coupled to said processor for inputting data to, and outputting data from the processor and a foldable keyboard electrically connected to the PDA. The foldable keyboard has first and second planar keyboard halves having a plurality of depressable keys arranged on a surface. The keyboard halves have complementary curved outer peripheral edges and are attached to one another by an intermediate hinge. When in the open position, the first keyboard half is substantially coplanar with the second keyboard half, and the peripheral edges of the first and second keyboard halves form a substantially continuous curvilinear path. When in the closed position, the first keyboard half is folded over, substantially congruent in shape with, and in a plane parallel to the plane of the second keyboard half.

  • Patent number: 5419774
Abstract: This invention is a method and device for quickly removing thrombus from the vascular system, particularly from a saphenous vein graft which can have highly organized thrombus over its entire length. Thrombus is pulled into a chamber at the distal end of the thrombus extraction device as a result of negative pressure, a severing mechanism severs the portion of the thrombus that is in the chamber, and fluid under pressure is supplied to transport and dilute the blood and thrombus, which renders the thrombus more manageable and reduces the blood loss to the patient.
