  • Patent number: 4409844
Abstract: A flow rate measuring device for use with liquids or appropriate dry materials, comprising a receptacle calibrated to indicate flow rate (e.g. gallons per minute) rather than static volume, and where a specific sampling period (e.g. 5 seconds) is also specified and which establishes the ratio between the collected volume and the flow rate (e.g. 1/12th) thereby enabling a person to obtain a direct reading of the flow rate from a particular source simply by capturing that flow during the specified sampling period and then noting the level of collected material relative to the calibrations. This invention also provides for the inclusion of additional data such as the average costs related to each flow rate and the potential savings at a lower flow rate. For further convenience, the device of this invention may be manufactured from a flexible plastic material that could be folded flat, thus enabling it to be enclosed in a conventional envelope as for mailing.

  • Patent number: 4095299
Abstract: A label or message instructing that the mattress be turned over from left to right is affixed to the upper surface of the mattress or is provided thereon by means of printing, stencilling, sewing or weaving or by any other convenient means. A second label or message is similarly provided on the underside of the mattress for instructing that the mattress be turned over from head to foot. When the mattress is to be rotated, it will only be necessary to read the instruction label on the exposed surface, which will indicate which of the alternate turning operations is to be performed. Instead of using two labels, a single label or message can be provided on a vertical surface of the mattress, such label or message bearing two instructions in inverted relation to one another, the first instructing that the mattress be turned over from left to right, the second instructing that the mattress be turned over from head to foot.

  • Patent number: 4049151
Abstract: A device for plugging or sealing apertures comprising a heat recoverable dished disc which has the capability to increase its radial dimension upon being heated to a temperature above the transition temperature of the metal. Sealing is accomplished by selecting a heat recoverable dished disc having a radial dimension smaller than that of the aperture to be sealed, but which is capable of increasing its radial dimension to a magnitude greater than that of the aperture. The disc is inserted into the aperture and exposed to a temperature higher than its transition temperature whereupon the disc attempts to return to its original substantially planar configuration thereby increasing in radial dimension and sealing the aperture.
