  • Patent number: 6856242
Abstract: An automatic siren silencing device for false alarms, for use in an alarm system having a siren driver which powers a siren. A microcomputer monitors pulse signal characteristics of the siren driver, including duration of pulses and number of pulses, and compares these characteristics with predetermined pulse signal characteristics stored in a memory. A relay coil is energized by the microcomputer, controlling a relay switch which disconnects the siren from the siren driver when the pulse signal characteristics are indicative of a false alarm thereby silencing the siren. A user means is provided to adjust the predetermined pulse signal characteristics. Power to the microcomputer is provided by a capacitor, charged by the signal of the siren driver, whereby no battery or dedicated external power supply input is required. Indicator lights and a piezo element inform a user of siren silencing, and indicate the types of false alarms detected.

  • Publication number: 20020148065
Abstract: The present invention provides a strap, preferably made of pliant leather, with a method of easily and securely attaching its two ends together such that it forms a loop around the hub of a bicycle wheel. As the bicycle wheel spins, the loop naturally moves about on the hub and removes oil and dirt from the hub. The strap includes a pattern of cuts along its two long edges and has a rough inner surface to assist in cleaning and includes an optically reflective outer surface for rider safety. The size of the strap is approximately 16 cm long by 1.4 cm wide by 1 mm thick so that it is large enough to freely spin on the hub yet not too large as to strike the spokes and create unwanted noise. The method of attaching its two ends comprise one or more holes at one end of the strap and an arrowhead with one or more pairs of notches at the other end of the strap. In connecting different notches and holes together, different sized loops may be formed.

  • Patent number: 5453786
Abstract: A method of processing digital image data such as obtained from a television screen for transmission along telephone lines such that the transmitted data can be transformed to produce images in color. The method includes storing a frame of incoming digital image data in a frame buffer, transferring a group of tiles from the frame buffer to a tile buffer, generating a clock signal, generating address and sets of control signals in a state machine, applying the clock signal to a digital transformer and applying each address and set of control signals to the tile buffer to directly transfer a block of data in the tile buffer to the digital transformer. Next the data in the block is transformed, returned to the tile buffer and is written over the corresponding untransformed data in the tile buffer. These steps are repeated until all tiles in the tile block have been transformed and returned. The transformed tiles in the tile block are then coded so as to complete their compression.
