  • Patent number: 10017962
Abstract: A door lock assembly operates a deadbolt between unlocked and locked positions. It includes a key cylinder having a central axis, a torque blade extending from said cylinder upon said center axis, an actuator interlock mechanism operatively connected with the door lock assembly and provided for pivoting upon the torque blade, a ring, pivotally mounted to the door lock assembly, and incorporating a post, the actuator interlock mechanism having a radially extending arm, being bifurcated at its end, for locating upon the ring post, such that upon turning of the ring the actuator interlock mechanism turns the torque blade; a latch bolt assembly, including a deadbolt, the torque blade extending through the latch bolt assembly, and pivoting a latch operator that extends the deadbolt for shifting into a locked or unlocked position, during usage of the door lock assembly.

  • Patent number: 9493965
Abstract: A door lock assembly operates a deadbolt between unlocked and locked positions. It includes an actuator, a ring, and a spring member. The actuator includes an integral arm, that extends inwardly, to the center of the ring, and the arm has a cam provided upon the center axis, and receives the torque blade from center key cylinder. In the preferred embodiment, when the ring is turned in a clockwise direction, it locks the deadbolt of the latch bolt assembly, by shifting it to a locking position, and all of this can be achieved because the key cylinder is on a center axis, and the axis of the latch bolt assembly and deadbolt intersects that same center axis in their operation.

  • Publication number: 20160040454
Abstract: A deadbolt door lock assembly operates a deadbolt between unlocked and locked positions. It generally comprises an actuator, a ring, and a biasing member. The actuators has a pin that interlocks with the actuator fork and rotates, in the preferred embodiment, in a clockwise direction to lock the dead bolt on either a right hand or left hand door. Once the deadbolt is locked, a biasing member urges the ring as interlocked with the actuator and returns it to the rest position. The assembly, in the preferred embodiment, is operable in the clockwise direction without disconnecting the biasing member. Obviously, the assembly can be prefabricated to operate in a counterclockwise direction. This is all achieved for the first time on any deadbolt and deadbolt latch by relocating the locking cylinder and deadbolt body assembly to the exact center of the deadbolt. Further, the deadbolt latch has all connecting assemblies and cylinder torque blade holes aligned in the center of the latch when assembled.

  • Patent number: 8360482
Abstract: A dead bolt latch (10) readily adjustable between forward and rear backset positions. A bolt casing (56) connects to a faceplate (48) installed on an outer face of a door (D). A bolt (15) fitting within the casing extends and retracts to latch or unlatch the door. A latch operator (12) and the bolt casing each have slots (64, 78) of a length corresponding to the distance between the backset positions, and a spring (72) seats between the bolt and latch operator. When the latch is being installed and needs to be adjusted between backset positions, the installer blocks movement of the bolt and then, by turning the latch operator, moves the relative position of the latch operator and bolt between backset positions using the force of the spring. This facilitates latch adjustment even by relatively unskilled installers.

A pin interlocks with the actuator fork and rotates, in the preferred embodiment, in a clockwise direction to lock the dead bolt on either a right hand or left hand door, to which the assembly is applied. The assembly can be prefabricated to operate in a counterclockwise direction. This is achieved by relocating the locking cylinder and deadbolt body assembly to the exact center of the deadbolt.

  • Patent number: 7389661
Abstract: A deadbolt door lock assembly operates a deadbolt between an unlocked and locked position. It generally comprises an actuator, a ring, and a biasing member. The ring contacts the actuator and rotates it in either a clockwise or counter-clockwise direction to lock the deadbolt. Once the deadbolt is locked, the biasing member urges the ring out of contact with the actuator. In one aspect, the assembly is operable in either the clockwise or counter-clockwise direction without disconnecting the biasing member. In another aspect, the biasing member includes different portions to urge the ring out of contact with the actuator depending on whether ring operation is in a clockwise or counter-clockwise direction. The assembly may include a backstop to indicate rotational direction of the ring to lock the deadbolt. The assembly may also include a stabilizing bridge to inhibit transverse rotation of mounting screws that secure the assembly to a door.
