Patent number: 9938792Abstract: An external tieback connector secures to a lower end of a driller riser. The tieback connector has a locking element that engages an external profile on the wellhead housing and an actuating piston within a piston chamber. A hydraulic fluid accumulator is in communication with the piston chamber through a hydraulic circuit having valves. An umbilical extends from a floating platform to the accumulator. Sending a signal through the umbilical opens the valves to supply hydraulic fluid pressure from the accumulator to the piston chamber. An acoustic signal receiver also connects to the hydraulic circuit. An acoustic transducer deployed subsea on a transducer cable will emit an acoustic signal that is received by the receiver. The receiver opens the valves to apply hydraulic fluid pressure to the piston chamber.Type: GrantFiled: November 6, 2015Date of Patent: April 10, 2018Assignee: VETCO GRAY, LLCInventors: Joseph W. Patent number: 8011872Abstract: A loader frame assembly is provided which comprises a support member adapted to mount a loader thereto and first and second legs each having first and second ends. The first ends are connected to the support member and the second ends are adapted for connection to a vehicle. The legs are spaced apart such that they partially define an open area such that a load can extend through the loader frame assembly. The frame assembly adapted for a rear-mounted loader vehicle, in cooperation with a rotatably mounted loader, can encompass a work area that includes the vehicle bed, the area adjacent to each side of the vehicle bed, and the area behind the vehicle bed. Due to the open area, the loader frame assembly also can work in cooperation with vehicle configurations including vehicles equipped with pushing and dumping functionality, dosed compartments, and towed devices.Type: GrantFiled: August 2, 2005Date of Patent: September 6, 2011Inventors: Jeffery S. McLellan, Robert J. Wagner

Patent number: 5403794Abstract: A refractory article such as a slide gate plate, well block nozzle or like refractory component used in continuous casting of chemically aggressive grades of steel is made from a mixture containing about 50-85 wt. % alumina; about 5-30 wt. % alumina-zirconia fused grain; about 3-10 wt. % zirconia; and about 3-10 wt. % silica, plus an effective amount of binder materials to permit extrusion, pressing or like forming process. The pressed shape is fired in an air atmosphere at temperatures in excess of 1000.degree. C. to form an oxide bond. The composition of the fired material comprises about 60-90 wt. % alumina; about 5-30 wt. % zirconia; and about 3-10 wt. % silica. The fired article exhibits excellent hot strength and is resistant to thermal shock and resistant to the erosive and corrosive effects of molten steel, including aggressive, high manganese and calcium treated grades.Type: GrantFiled: April 14, 1994Date of Patent: April 4, 1995Assignee: Vesuvius Crucible CompanyInventors: Martin Morris, Robert J. Patent number: 4967690Abstract: Nodule formation in a continuous electroless copper plating system is minimized by independently controlling the dissolved oxygen contents on the plating solution in the bath and in the associated external piping. The level of dissolved oxygen in the plating tank is maintained at a value such that satisfactory plating takes place. At the point where the plating solution leaves the tank, additional oxygen gas is introducted into the solution so that the level of dissolved oxygen in the plating solution in the external piping is high enough to prevent any plating from taking place in the external piping and so that in the external piping the copper is etched or dissolved back into solution. At the end of the external piping, the dissolved oxygen level is reduced so that the dissolved oxygen level of the plating solution in the tank is maintained at the level where plating will take place.Type: GrantFiled: April 12, 1990Date of Patent: November 6, 1990Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: Edmond O. Fey, Peter Haselbauer, Dae Y. Jung, Ronald A. Kaschak, Hans-Dieter Kilthau, Roy H. Magnuson, Robert J. Wagner
