    Abstract: A computer system for inferring a context from which a resource was selected in a distributed file sharing system is provided. The system includes a processor that is configured to receive a first connection request from a client agent and transmit a response to the first connection request to the client agent, the response including a resource collection that includes at least one resource. The processor is further configured to receive a request for the at least one resource from the client agent and generate a context inference indicating the client agent selected the at least one resource from the resource collection. The processor is further configured to receive a second connection request from the client agent, select an updated resource collection for transmission to the client agent based on the context inference, and transmit the updated resource collection to the client agent.

    Abstract: Bandwidth on the Internet and intranets is highly variable and unreliable, two properties that can make streaming digital media content difficult. In a virtualization system (e.g., virtual desktop, remote desktop, remote application, and the like), this is especially so based on different bandwidths available to the session host and the session client. Methods and systems for emulating a bandwidth of a client device in a virtualization system are described. When the session host is executing an application (e.g., a digital media application), the session host may emulate the bandwidth of the session client by hooking into and throttling data over one or more APIs associated with the digital media application, thereby tricking the application into making a bandwidth determination based on the emulated bandwidth of the session client, rather than based on the bandwidth of the session host.

    Abstract: Described are methods and systems for synchronizing client-side cookies with server-side cookies. A control that executes on a client computer within the context of a remote application, receives control input that is generated by a remote control that executes on a server within the remote application. In response to receiving the control input, the control generates a content request and forwards the content request to a synchronization agent that executes on the client computer. In many instances, the content request is a request for a cookie. Upon receiving the content request, the synchronization agent determines the type of content requested and responsively issues a synchronization request to a remote synchronization agent that executes on the server. The remote synchronization agent retrieves the requested content from the server and transmits the requested content to the synchronization agent. Upon receiving the requested content, the synchronization agent returns the content to the control.
