  • Patent number: 11181041
Abstract: A system includes a turbine system that contains a heat recovery steam generator (HRSG) having a flow path that receives an exhaust gas, and having a fluid path that receives a fluid. The fluid path is adjacent to the flow path such that the fluid is heated by the exhaust gas. The HRSG includes an electrical heater that provides heat to the fluid path during a start-up mode of the HRSG, during a shutdown mode of the HRSG, or both.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: February 2, 2017
Date of Patent: November 23, 2021
    Assignee: General Electric Company
Inventors: Gordon Raymond Smith, Allen Michael Pfeffer, Robert John Gdaniec
  • Patent number: 10851990
Abstract: The present application provides an energy control computing device for adjusting one or more steam flow parameters delivered to a steam turbine from a heat recovery steam generator via a number of control devices. The energy control computing device includes a processor in communication with a memory. The processor is programmed to receive a number of measured operating values, identify steam turbine operating limits, identify a number of candidate operating modes meeting steam turbine operating limits, selecting the candidate operating mode maximizing the steam flow parameters while not exceeding the steam turbine operating limits, and directing the control devices to meet the selected candidate operating mode.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 5, 2019
Date of Patent: December 1, 2020
    Assignee: GENERAL ELECTRIC COMPANY
Inventors: Charles Michael Jones, Robert John Gdaniec, Raub Warfield Smith, Francois Droux

  • Patent number: 9279346
Abstract: Certain embodiments of the invention may include systems, methods, and apparatus for determining online stress and life consumption of a heat recovery steam generator (HRSG). According to an example embodiment of the invention, a method for assessing components of a HRSG is provided. The method includes receiving HRSG design parameters; determining thermal stress data associated with the one or more HRSG components based at least in part on one or more historical, real-time, or calculated temperature sensor data associated with the one or more HRSG components; and determining cycle-related life consumption data associated with the one or more HRSG components based at least in part on the HRSG design parameters and the determined thermal stress data.
    Type: Grant
