Abstract: A card handling device is configured to arrange one or more cards into sets or hands. The card handling device may have a card receiving area, a card infeed mechanism for delivering cards from the receiving area to a receiver for forming the card sets or hands, and an ejector for ejecting cards to a card dispensing area. The receiving area may have a card engaging movable sidewall. The card receiver may be movable and have vertically spaced dividers which define card receiving pockets. A top of the card dispensing area is located above a top of the card receiving area.

Abstract: A system and method of shuffling decks of cards is disclosed including verifying that the shuffled deck of cards has the same number of cards as the deck of cards had had when a manual verification process was performed at the initiation of use of the deck of cards. Using the measured weight of the deck of cards after completion of shuffling, the number of cards in the shuffled deck of cards is verified. A cut card may be introduced to reduce the possibility of exposing the hole card to view. Two decks of cards may be used in sequence so that a first deck of cards is being used to play the game of cards while the second deck of cards is being shuffled and verified.

Abstract: Installing a flush-mounted table-top shuffler in an oversized aperture in a card table top may result in a gap between an edge of the shuffler top plate and a side of the aperture opening if the shuffler is not well centered in the aperture. The table may be covered with a felt having an underlying resilient pad. The pad may be compressed by a lip of the shuffler top surface so that a thickness of the shuffler top surface plate is subsumed in the depression in the table top covering caused by the weight of the shuffler. The range of horizontal motion of the shuffler in the aperture may be restricted by spacers so that a gap does not form and that the force applied to the resilient pad by the weight of the shuffler is more evenly distributed around the periphery of the top surface of the shuffler.
