Patent number: 11060325Abstract: In combination: an over-the-road vehicle with a frame bounding a cargo space and at least one door having inside and outside surfaces and a peripheral edge; and a first locking assembly connected to the vehicle. The first locking assembly extends in an inside to outside direction over at least a portion of the thickness dimension of the peripheral door edge and so that a first portion extends to beyond the outside door surface. The first portion of the first locking assembly is configured to be engaged by a locking device that acts between the first locking assembly and another component to maintain the first door in the closed position. The first locking assembly is configured so that a region of the first portion is locally strengthened in a manner to resist severance and/or bending.Type: GrantFiled: March 6, 2017Date of Patent: July 13, 2021Inventor: Robert Joseph Kaminsky, Jr.

Patent number: 10293228Abstract: A baseball bat having a body with spaced ends, a barrel region at one end and a handle region at the other end. A safety assembly has an elongate member that extends through at least a part of the body and is connected at spaced first and second locations to the body. The elongate member is operable to at least momentarily exert a restraining force on a fragmented part of the barrel region to thereby avoid unimpeded movement of the fragmented part of the barrel region away from the handle region.Type: GrantFiled: October 30, 2017Date of Patent: May 21, 2019Inventor: Robert Joseph Kaminsky, Jr.

Patent number: 9021676Abstract: A method of preventing a first door on an over-the-road vehicle from moving from a closed position into an open position. The first door has a first latch assembly that cooperates with a second latch assembly to releasably maintain the first door in its closed position. One of the first and second latch assemblies is maintained in place by at least one fastener extended into a first opening. With the at least one fastener loosened, the first locking assembly is placed on one of: a) one of the doors; or b) the vehicle frame after which a fastener is tightened into the first opening to thereby: i) maintain one of the first and second latch assemblies in place and secure the operatively placed first locking assembly. With the first door in the closed position, a locking device can be connected to the first locking assembly and another part on the vehicle to thereby maintain the first door in the closed position.Type: GrantFiled: October 15, 2012Date of Patent: May 5, 2015Inventor: Robert Joseph Kaminsky, Jr.

Patent number: 8757684Abstract: The combination of an over-the-road vehicle and a locking system. The vehicle has a frame bounding a cargo space and at least one access door. The one door has a first latch assembly thereon that cooperates with a second latch assembly on one of: a) the vehicle frame; and b) a second door to releasably maintain the one door in its closed position. The locking system includes a first locking assembly on the first door and a second locking assembly on the one of the vehicle frame and second door. The first locking assembly projects from a location between the first peripheral edge and the one of the vehicle frame and second door to beyond one of the inside and outside surfaces. The first and second locking assemblies can be maintained together either inside or outside of the cargo space.Type: GrantFiled: May 14, 2013Date of Patent: June 24, 2014Inventor: Robert Joseph Kaminsky, Jr.

Patent number: 8347662Abstract: A combination including an apparatus with a frame bounding an internal space and a first repositionable door that is movable between closed and open positions relative to the frame. Cooperating components on the first door and at least one of: a) the frame; and b) a second door are alignable in a first relative position with the first door closed. A lock assembly cooperates with the components with the first door in the closed position and the cooperating components in the first relative position and has a locked state wherein the lock assembly prevents the first door from being moved from its closed position into its open position. A shielding assembly conforms to at least a part of the exposed outer surface, overlies at least a part of the exposed outer surface, and is frictionally held against the lock assembly to be maintained in an operative state.Type: GrantFiled: November 8, 2010Date of Patent: January 8, 2013Inventor: Robert Joseph Kaminsky, Jr.

Patent number: 8347661Abstract: The combination of: a) an apparatus with a frame bounding an internal space and a first door that is movable between closed and open positions; b) cooperating components on the first door and at least one of: i) the frame; and ii) a second door that are alignable in a first relative position; and c) a lock assembly that cooperates with the components with the first door in the closed position and the cooperating components in the first relative position and has a locked state wherein the lock assembly prevents the first door from being moved from its closed position into its open position. The lock assembly has a casing with an outer surface and a first assembly that extends over at least a portion of the outer surface of the casing to block access to the casing in a manner that would allow a repositioning force to be applied to the outer surface of the casing so as to thereby defeat the lock assembly.Type: GrantFiled: March 11, 2010Date of Patent: January 8, 2013Inventor: Robert Joseph Kaminsky, Jr.
