  • Patent number: 5358284
Abstract: An expansion joint for connecting sections of a duct carrying high temperature gases includes upstream and downstream frame portions connected to the ducts, a peripheral fabric belt connecting the frame portions, and thermal insulation positioned between the belt and a primary internal liner mounted on a frame portion and projecting toward the opposite frame portion. A thermal insulation pillow is positioned between the primary internal liner and the flowpath, and a thermal panel made up of floating segments is positioned between the insulation pillow and the flowpath. At least the upstream frame portion includes a conical member extending at an oblique angle to inner and outer sides of the frame portion. In the illustrated embodiments, a secondary liner is mounted on the opposite frame portion and projects toward the frame portion carrying the primary liner, the primary internal liner being positioned between the secondary internal liner and the gas flowpath.

  • Patent number: 4749168
Abstract: In a sealing mechanism for a damper plate for a duct, seal members are made in the form of multi-convoluted sheet metal bellows, which engage each side of the damper plate around the periphery of the duct. When the duct is moved from an open position to a closed position, it slides between the seal elements forcing them apart. When the plate is slid from a closed position to an open position, the spring bias in the bellows members will cause them to expand to engage each other.

  • Patent number: 4511162
Abstract: A leak indicating conduit for conveying fluid includes an inner tube and an outer tube, in which the inner tube is separated from the outer tube by a space maintained at a pressure having a predetermined value from the range of values less than the pressure of the conveyed fluid and the ambient pressure, and greater than the pressure of the conveyed fluid and the ambient pressure. A leak indicating device is in continuous communication with the space for indicating a change of pressure in the space from the predetermined value. The indicating device includes a chamber in which an expansible bellows is mounted in communication with the space. The expansible bellows includes a movable plate supporting an indicating element for movement between a concealed first position, thereby indicating no change of pressure from the predetermined value, and a second, visible position, thereby indicating a change of pressure.
