  • Patent number: 9004155
Abstract: Passive completion optimization with fluid loss control. A completion string includes a set of well tools interconnected as a portion of the completion string, the well tools including a well screen assembly, at least one valve which controls fluid communication between an interior and exterior of the string, and two packer assemblies, each of the packer assemblies including at least one swellable seal element, and the packer assemblies longitudinally straddling the valve and the screen assembly. Another completion string includes a set of well tools interconnected as a portion of the completion string, the well tools including two packer assemblies, a well screen assembly, and the screen assembly including an inflow control device which restricts fluid flow through the screen assembly, each of the packer assemblies including a swellable seal element, and the packer assemblies longitudinally straddling the screen assembly.

  • Publication number: 20110024134
Abstract: An expansion device for a wellbore servicing tool, comprising a wedge comprising a frusto-conical wall having a tip end, the wedge being configured coaxially along a central axis, a plurality of slip segments, each slip segment comprising an inner surface having an incline surface, and at least one bridge joining each of the incline surfaces to the frusto conical wall. A method of operating a wellbore servicing tool, comprising longitudinally compressing an expansion device along a central axis, upon sufficient compression, separating plural slip segments from a wedge, moving the wedge relative to the slip segments, upon sufficient movement of the wedge relative to the slip segments, separating at least two slip segments from each other.

  • Patent number: 4852654
Abstract: A unitary assembly (10); is disclosed for isolating a leak in a side pocket mandrel (12) between the tubing annulus (16) about a tubing string (14) and the interior (20) of the tubing string. The unitary assembly includes an upper packer (22), and a lower packer (24) interconnected by a tailpipe (26). The upper packer (22) is preferably set by a wireline tool and the lower packer is preferably set hydraulically. This eliminates the need for a drilling or workover rig to be setup over the well when patching a leak.

  • Patent number: 4452463
Abstract: A sealing assembly for a packer includes a generally cylindrical elastomeric sealing element telescoped onto a mandrel between upper and lower expander heads. A sealing ring is disposed between each expander head and the sealing element at each end thereof for expanding radially outward toward engagement with the inside wall of a casing to keep the element from extruding between the expander heads and casing when setting the packer. A substantially non-expandable retaining ring surrounds the mandrel adjacent each of said sealing rings and an annular receptacle surrounds the mandrel and is located between each of the expander heads and the opposite ends of the sealing element. The receptacle has inner and outer malleable annular walls which are normally spaced radially outward from the mandrel and an end wall is integrally connected between these inner and outer walls so as to define an annular trough opening toward the sealing element.
