  • Patent number: 10703557
Abstract: A drum for transporting and feeding welding wire may comprise a hold-down bar opening. The hold-down bar opening enables access to and removal of a hold-down bar without requiring prior removal of an end surface of the drum or a drum lid. The drum may also comprise an access door. The access door enables access to the interior space of the drum when it is opened or removed from the first end surface. The access door allows for retrieval of a portion of a wire stored within the drum without need to remove an end surface of the drum or a drum lid.
    Type: Grant

  • Patent number: 8550245
Abstract: In certain embodiments, a welding wire and container assembly includes a container having an interior volume; a coil of welding wire disposed in the interior volume; and a wire container cover. The wire container cover may include a top surface having an opening therethrough to enable welding wire to pass through the wire container cover when the wire container cover is disposed on the container. The assembly also may include a skirt askew to the top surface, wherein the skirt is adapted to produce friction between the skirt and a side of the container when the wire container cover is disposed on the container housing and wherein the skirt is non-locking with respect to the container.

  • Patent number: 7152735
Abstract: A removable cover for a container and a container having the removable cover. The cover may be adapted with an opening to enable wire to pass through the cover with the cover disposed on the container. The container may be adapted to be lifted by inserting a fork, or other lifting member, of a lifting device into the container. The container may comprise a fiber drum having one or more openings, or recesses, adapted to receive a fork of a lifting device. The container may be cylindrical. The container may be adapted to store wire. An adapter assembly may be disposed on the cover to protect the opening in the cover and to direct movement of the wire.

  • Patent number: 5758834
Abstract: A wire container 10 includes wire control apparatus 100 mounted at the upper part of an inner core 25 and provided with a plurality of fingers 140 mounted on a ring 110 and diverter apparatus in the form of tie-down wires 120 for preventing the wire from entering into the space between the ring 110 and the core 25. The fingers 140 subtend an arc of slightly greater than 30.degree. and extend into contact with the outer drum member 20 to insure that the wire 35 is forced against the inner surface of the drum as the wire is removed. The stiffness of the fingers 140 is such that the wire cannot by itself uncoil and exit the drum, but it not so stiff that the resistance to wire movement from the drum adversely affects the wire feeding process.
