  • Patent number: 11813189
Abstract: A biomaterial collection system has a receptacle, pouch or bag for collection and a status detection device for indicating pouch volume based on a distance between opposed sides or panels of the receptacle. The receptacle is a collection vessel having a sealed volume defined by at least two opposed panels, and an interior volume defined by a distance between the opposed panels. A detection circuit including a Hall effect sensor and rare-earth magnet provides a signal indicative of the distance. The collection vessel may be employed in conjunction with procedures such as ileostomy, urostomy and colostomy for indication of a nearly full collection vessel that requires emptying.

  • Publication number: 20200237550
Abstract: An adapter for securing a skin barrier for ostomy collection allows placement of the skin barrier in a variety of positions to avoid interfering with surgical incisions, bandages and/or drains. An oblong or elliptical shaped skin barrier may be rotated or oriented to an alternate position and attached to a belt using the adapter. The adapter has a linkage for receiving the belt, typically a set of pins or protrusions, and another linkage for engaging the skin barrier through the same apertures intended to receive the belt at an alternate position. The adapter allows the oblong skin barrier to be rotated to a position that avoids incisions or surgical structures without cutting an adhesive region and compromising adhesion of the skin barrier. The adapter provides full retention capability of the adhesive and the support belt are for maintaining a fluidic barrier to the ostomy collection bag or pouch.

  • Patent number: 7762396
Abstract: A cup carrier for holding beverage cups within a range of shapes and sizes is provided. The carrier has a cup-holding socket that has stabilizing shoulders and stabilizing walls extending inwardly and downwardly therefrom. The stabilizing walls include an upper portion having a relatively shallow angle and lower portions having a steeper angle. This extends the stabilizing wall further into an upper region of the socket, thereby enabling the stabilizing wall to contact smaller diameter cups at a higher point in order to increase stability. The upper portion contacts larger cups inserted into the socket. Because the upper portion initially has a relatively shallow angle, it exerts a desirable gripping force on the cups when it is deflected outwardly by the cup's sidewall. The carrier also includes a stepped center cavity for increased strength and rigidity.

  • Publication number: 20090211937
Abstract: Carrier for cups, said carrier being, more in particular, produced from moulded fibre material. The carrier is arranged to displace as such two or more cups and for displacing a double number of cups through connection with a further carrier. To that end, each carrier is provided with a connection section, in which complementary locking means are provided. According to the invention the locking means are both effective at an outer limit as at an inner limit of the connection section. Because of that a very stable locking is obtained. Further stabilisation can be obtained in that at placing two carriers in each other a lip of the upper one of the two carriers extends in the bottom portion of the accommodation of an other carrier. By providing the cup to be displaced additional stability is provided.
