  • Patent number: 11509178
Abstract: An electric machine including a distributed cooling system is disclosed. The electric machine includes a housing, a stator assembly, a rotor assembly, and a distributed cooling system. The distributed cooling system comprising at least one inlet, a first passage, a second passage, and a third passage. The first passage extending axially in a first direction through at least a portion of the rotor shaft to direct a flow of coolant in the first direction. A second passage fluidly coupled to the first passage extending in a second direction through at least a portion of the rotor shaft between a receiving end and a distributing end. At least one third passage fluidly coupled to the second passage extending between a first end and a second end and distributes coolant received from the second passage to at least one of the first end or the second end into the stator assembly.

  • Patent number: 10615663
Abstract: An electrical machine comprising a rotor; a stator comprising a lamination stack that includes a plurality of laminations aligned coaxially, the lamination stack defining a central bore sized to receive the rotor; and a casing defining a central bore sized to receive the stator, the casing comprising a cooling circuit intended for circulation of a cooling fluid, the cooling circuit comprising an inlet opening for letting cooling fluid in, the inlet opening positioned at the center of a lateral wall of the casing, and a first fluid passage and a second fluid passage originating from the inlet opening, extending from the center of a lateral wall of the casing towards a corresponding end of the casing.

  • Patent number: 6762531
Abstract: A motor assembly having improved flux density includes a field assembly and an armature assembly rotatably received by the field assembly. The field assembly includes a plurality of like laminations stacked upon each other wherein each field lamination comprises a pair of substantially parallel bracket sides, and a pair of substantially parallel yoke sides which are substantially perpendicular to the pair of bracket sides. Corner pieces connect the yoke sides to the bracket sides wherein the corner pieces are angularly directed between about 40° to about 50° with respect to the yoke sides and the bracket sides. A yoke extends inwardly from each yoke side to form an armature opening therebetween for rotatably receiving the armature assembly.
