  • Patent number: 5673634
Abstract: An incineration plant includes a heat exchanger arranged in a flue gas flow following a reduction stage for nitrogen oxides and in front of a flue gas dust collector, and a heat transfer medium circuit for absorbing heat from the heat exchanger in the flue gas flow. The heat exchanger is connected to the heat transfer medium circuit such that the heat transfer medium conducted in the circuit is admitted to the heat exchanger. The heat transfer medium circuit has at least one additional heat exchanger for absorbing heat from the heat transfer medium. A feed water preheater is arranged in the heat transfer medium circuit.

  • Patent number: 4462976
Abstract: Treatment of waste water containing chlorides comprising treatment with Ca (OH).sub.2 or CaCO.sub.3 to convert the chlorides to CaCl.sub.2, adding sulfuric acid to said water in a reaction vessel to produce hydrochloric acid and gypsum, circulating the mixture in a closed cycle between the reaction vessel and a distillation column for the extractive distillation of the resulting hydrochloric acid, and filtering out the accumulating gypsum sludge from the treated waste water, wherein the added amount of waste water amount of hydrochloric acid correspond to the amount of sludge exiting the reaction vessel or the amount of distillate removed from the distilling column and the amount of gypsum separated, and the hydrochloric acid concentration in the liquid is less than the maximum azeotropic concentration for a mixture of H.sub.2 O and HCl.

  • Patent number: 4419334
Abstract: A method for the cooling and separation of chlorides and fluorides from hot mixtures of gases generated by the gasification of solid or liquid fuels or by extracting gas from solid fuels by cooling the gas mixture in the presence of a circulating liquid of ammonia and water in a cooler at a temperature below the adiabatic saturation temperature. This results in condensation of the steam contained in the gas and the formation, by sublimation of the gaseous ammonia, HCl or HF, of solid ammonium chloride or ammonium fluoride. These solids become dissolved in the condensed steam or the liquid circulated in the cooler and are then discharged from the cooler.

  • Patent number: 4374811
Abstract: A method and device of cooling and separating chlorides and fluorides from ammoniacal gas produced in the carbonization gasification of coal includes the addition of an aqueous salt solution having a concentration of at least one of chlorine and fluorine ions up to saturation to the ammoniacal gas in a color to form a salt solution enriched with chlorides, fluorides and ammonia compounds and a treated gas, and removing at least part of the enriched solution from the cooler.

  • Patent number: 4371508
Abstract: A method of operating a flue gas desulfurization with a steam power plant heated with fossil fuels. The sulfur dioxide contained in the flue gas is removed in a wash tower by means of an excess of milk of lime or limestone, and the resulting sulfite is oxidized with air at a low pH-value into calcium sulfate. The non-converted milk of lime or limestone is neutralized at least partially by an addition of acid waste waters from a complete desalination plant for the supply water, and/or by an addition of acid condensate from the flue or chimney of the steam power plant. An installation for carrying out the method of the present invention includes a wash tower having flue gas flowing therethrough, an oxidation tower having air flowing therethrough, milk of lime or limestone supply into the wash tower, and a delivery device for the wash liquid in the wash tower and in the oxidation tower, with the device having a pump for liquid drawn off from the sump of the wash tower.
