Patent number: 11871537Abstract: The present disclosure describes systems and methods to provide electrode cooling for material surface treatment systems. A cooling fluid is employed to cool electrodes with a high voltage applied. For example, a conduit conveys a cooling fluid through the electrode, as the conduit also provides electrification for the electrode by being connected to an electrical power source. Further, cooling is implemented by use of a voltage isolator disposed between the conduit and a reservoir, with the voltage isolator providing a pathway to a reference voltage for residual electric charge from the cooling fluid passing through the voltage isolator.Type: GrantFiled: January 31, 2020Date of Patent: January 9, 2024Assignee: Illinois Tool Works Inc.Inventor: Robert Kleinschmidt

Publication number: 20230302219Abstract: Systems, devices, and methods described herein indirectly monitor a state of fluid flow by monitoring a state of connection of a medication delivery device. The system includes an enclosure, a contact sensor, and a controller. The enclosure can attach around at least a portion of an outer surface of the medication delivery device to enclose at least a portion of the outer surface therein. The contact sensor and controller are enclosed within the enclosure. The contact sensor can monitor a state of electrical connection. The controller is in communication with the contact sensor and can relay the state of electrical connection. The state of connection of the contact sensor corresponds to the state of connection of the medication delivery device.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 17, 2023Publication date: September 28, 2023Inventors: GLEN ROBERT KLEINSCHMIDT, JOSEPH MATTHEW BEGGS, JAKE ESHELMAN

Patent number: 10148069Abstract: According to an aspect of the present disclosure, a position adjustment mechanism is provided for automatically adjusting the position of an electrode relative to a ground roller in a corona treatment apparatus. The position adjustment mechanism is capable of detecting thickened areas in a web of material that is being treated and automatically adjusting the air gap to maintain the quality of the surface treatment of the web.Type: GrantFiled: May 3, 2016Date of Patent: December 4, 2018Assignee: ILLINOIS TOOL WORKS INC.Inventors: Rory A. Wolf, Eric J. Urban, Robert A. Kleinschmidt

Publication number: 20180127133Abstract: According to an aspect of the present disclosure, an adjustable induction foil sealing device is used to hermetically seal a container. The device can be adjusted to accommodate differently sized containers. The device includes a power supply cabinet, first and second rail assemblies and an adjustment assembly coupling the rail assemblies together and coupling the rail assemblies to the cabinet. Each rail assembly has an induction sealing coil and conductive contacts. The contacts on the rail assemblies are in electrical contact with the contacts on the cabinet. The adjustment assembly is configured to adjust the relative positions of the rail assemblies relative to each other and relative to the cabinet, while maintaining the electrical connection of the contacts.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 4, 2016Publication date: May 10, 2018Inventors: Bradley J. Budde, Robert A. Kleinschmidt, Timothy J. Handler

Patent number: 6894279Abstract: A corona discharge device is adapted to be used in conjunction with a printing press. The device includes a cabinet housing an on-board power supply associated with a high voltage transformer. A rear end plate and a front end plate spaced apart in parallel relationship from the rear end plate both depend from the cabinet. An electrode support tube is fixedly mounted to the cabinet and has an electrode magazine slidably mounted on the support tube between an operative position and an inoperative position, the magazine including a series of parallel electrodes. A grounded treater roll is rotatably mounted on a first shaft between the rear end plate and the front end plate and below the support tube. A pair of spaced idler rolls is rotatably mounted on respective second and third shafts between the rear end plate and the front end plate below the treater roll such that a flexible web is guided upwardly by the idler rolls and wound about the treater roll beneath the electrodes.Type: GrantFiled: August 15, 2001Date of Patent: May 17, 2005Assignee: Illinois Tool Works Inc.Inventors: Richard J. Washebeck, Robert A. Kleinschmidt

Patent number: 6714170Abstract: A satellite dish assembly is mounted on the exterior of a vehicle. The dish assembly is in its traveling position while the vehicle is traveling from one place to another. The satellite dish is below the uppermost portion of the vehicle while in the assembly's traveling position. The satellite dish assembly raises and the aims the dish towards a transmitting satellite after the vehicle reaches its destination. One motor raises the satellite dish with a telescoping mast. Two other motors adjust the direction the dish is facing by rotating and tilting the dish on top of the mast. The satellite dish receives the signals from the transmitting satellite and communicates the signals into the vehicle. The motors are used to reposition the satellite dish in its traveling position before the vehicle starts for its next destination.Type: GrantFiled: August 28, 2002Date of Patent: March 30, 2004Inventor: Robert Kleinschmidt
