  • Patent number: 4300324
Abstract: New light, strong, non-shrinking cellular concrete having good thermal and acoustic insulating properties prepared by incorporating aluminum and an alkaline agent capable of producing a gas when reacted with the aluminum within an anhydrite binder, placing the mixture in a mold, and permitting it to expand to a cellular product and cure. The products are useful as building materials. The invention includes the production of building elements comprising the cellular anhydrite product as described above adhered to at least one layer of a substantially non-cellular or dense facing layer made with an anhydrite binder or sandwiched between and adhered to non-cellular facing layers both made with an anhydrite binder.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: April 16, 1980
Date of Patent: November 17, 1981
    Assignee: Produits Chimiques Ugine Kuhlmann
    Inventor: Robert Koeppel

  • Patent number: 4166750
Abstract: The invention disclosed is for a new anhydrite concrete prepared by combining suitable quantities of an anhydrite binder, at least one anhydrite setting catalyst, heavy granulates and water. The new anhydrite concrete may be readily molded into building elements such as blocks, case bays, and the like.

  • Patent number: 4151000
Abstract: The present invention relates to an anhydrite binder and to the method of making the same from the gypsum by-product (phosphogypsum) resulting from the production of phosphoric acid by the wet method, said binder comprising particulate anhydrous CaSO.sub.4 with an insoluble CaSO.sub.4 content of at least 93%, an average particle size diameter of 5 to 30, with 15% by weight or more of the particles having a diameter smaller than 10.mu. and 20% by weight or more of the particles having a diameter larger than 20.mu., and a pore volume of less than 0.29cc/g in the case of pores having a radius less than about 6.6.mu..
