  • Publication number: 20170170991
Abstract: A communication terminal is described comprising a radio frequency receiver configured to receive a signal comprising signal components transmitted via different communication channels, each modulated based on a common modulation symbol shared by the plurality of communication channels, an equalizer for each communication channel configured to equalize the signal received based on respective one or more channel parameters, a demodulator for each communication channel configured to calculate probability information information bits to be equal to a particular binary value, a combiner configured to combine the probability information calculated for the plurality of communication channels and a decoder configured to generate reconstructed useful data based on the combined probability information.

  • Publication number: 20020136331
Abstract: Performing channel estimation with a limiting receiver includes performing a first estimation of a first portion of a signal to obtain first parameters of the portion of the signal. The first portion of the signal has predetermined offsets added during transmission. The predetermined offsets are based on the modulation format of a second portion. The first and second portions have different modulation formats. The first portion of the signal is demodulated using the first parameters to recover data symbols. An equalizer is trained using a decision directed technique to obtain equalizer coefficients. The demodulated first portion of the signal is checked to confirm correct demodulation. The second portion of the signal is then demodulated using the equalizer coefficients.
