  • Publication number: 20220177256
Abstract: A method for evaluating stacking or sorting integrity at an output device of a high-speed apparatus that processes media includes: acquiring an audio data substantially in real-time from the output device of the high-speed apparatus while the high-speed apparatus is in operation, by use of an audio sensor located at the output device; transforming by a processor, the audio data to into a stacking or sorting integrity value; and if the stacking or sorting integrity value exceeds a predetermined threshold, stopping by the processor a document transport of the high-speed apparatus. An apparatus for evaluating stacking or sorting integrity at an output device, and a system for evaluating stacking or sorting integrity at an output device of a high-speed apparatus are also described.

  • Publication number: 20210266420
Abstract: A multi-mode document scanning system includes a scanning bed configured to transport a plurality of documents through a scanning area. A scanning camera is configured to image the documents. At least one illumination bank includes a plurality of illumination elements of at least two different light wavelengths interspersed on at least one illumination bank. An illumination source switching assembly controls at last some elements of one wavelength. A selection process selects a wavelength appropriate to a document to be scanned, and instructs a processor operatively coupled to the illumination source switching assembly to illuminate elements of that wavelength. A multi-mode scanning method of document scanning is also described.

  • Publication number: 20070296140
Abstract: An apparatus includes a vibrating jogging tray with rotatable rods having longitudinal edges. The apparatus can further include a transfer assembly comprising a transfer belt and a first vacuum system positioned opposite to a separation assembly comprising a separation belt and, optionally, a second vacuum system. In operation, the rods rotate a plurality of articles toward the transfer assembly. The first vacuum system can draw a first article onto the transfer belt and transports it to a processing station. If a second article overlaps the first article on the transfer belt, the second vacuum system can draw the second article off of the first article and onto the separation belt. If the first article traveling on the transfer assembly is thicker than a distance between the transfer belt and the separation belt, a retractable roller can retract the separation belt and/or the transfer belt to increase the distance therebetween.

  • Patent number: 4142430
Abstract: An envelope opener comprising first, second and third shear stations for shearing three edges of an envelope in sequence one edge at a time. Each shear station sequentially aligns the envelope by contacting the edge to be sheared, shears the contacted edge, and then releases the envelope. A microcomputer monitors the advance of the envelope through and between the shear stations and causes the shear stations to cyclically align, shear and release the envelope. A peel back station downstream of the shear station peels back a panel of the envelope to expose the contents thereof. If an envelope is jammed at or between any of the stations, the microcomputer actuates a display to indicate a jam condition. The microcomputer also shuts off power to the opener to prevent damage to the envelope.

  • Patent number: 4126779
Abstract: Apparatus for processing batchs of remittance and transaction documents by operating an encoder in accordance with a program stored in memory. A central processor unit sequentially generates a plurality of groups of data signals in accordance with the program. A card or document reader reads information stored on a transaction document and transmits the information through a card reader interface to the central processor unit. A switch control interface senses the states of a plurality of switches indicative of control and endorsement information and transmits the information to the central processor unit. A display interface causes a display to display numeric and control information stored on the transaction document in response to one of the groups of central processor unit data signals.
