  • Publication number: 20240091053
Abstract: A heated liquid system may comprise a catheter including a liquid delivery channel for delivery of a treatment liquid from a distal end portion of the catheter. The catheter may also include a circulation supply channel extending along the liquid delivery channel. The circulation supply channel may be configured to convey a heated liquid from a heated liquid source toward the distal end portion of the catheter. The catheter may also include a circulation return channel extending along the liquid delivery channel. The circulation return channel may be configured to convey the heated liquid from the distal end portion toward a proximal end portion of the catheter. The heated liquid may be used to maintain a temperature of the treatment liquid.

  • Patent number: 11839418
Abstract: This invention relates to the treatment of a patient's lung, for example, a lung exhibiting chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and in particular to methods and devices for affecting lung volume reduction, preferably for achieving acute or immediate lung volume reduction following treatment. The lung volume reduction is effected by delivering a condensable vapor at a temperature above body temperature to the desired regions of the patient's lung to damage tissue therein. Blood flow and air flow to the damaged tissue region is essentially terminated, rendering the target region non-functional. Alternative energy sources may be used to effect the thermal damage to the lung tissue.

  • Publication number: 20230277183
Abstract: A treatment of obstructive lung disease includes aiming a condensable vapor towards the airway wall, causing a band-shaped lesion to grow to a depth into the airway wall. Ablation parameters are set to control the depth of the band-shaped lesion to encompass the epithelial layer and exclude the smooth muscle layer of the airway. A wide variety of configurations of the vapor delivery are described to create ablation patterns in the airways of the patient with particular emphasis on treating chronic bronchitis.

  • Publication number: 20220273489
Abstract: A system may comprise a liquid source from which a liquid is delivered, and a catheter coupled to the liquid source. The catheter may include a distal portion from which the liquid is released into an anatomic lumen. The system may also include an occlusion device coupled to the catheter and configured to prevent flow of the liquid in the anatomic lumen proximally of the occlusion device. The system may also include a heating device near the distal portion of the catheter. The heating device may be configured to heat the liquid to a temperature of less than a vaporization temperature for the liquid.

  • Publication number: 20220249158
Abstract: A system for treating target tissue located at a first location along an anatomic lumen comprises a catheter including a distal end portion configured for deployment in the anatomic lumen. The system also comprises an expansion device coupled to the distal end portion of the catheter. The expansion device has an expanded size in a deployed configuration. The expansion device in the deployed configuration occludes the anatomic lumen at a second location, different from the first location, along the anatomic lumen. The expansion device also occludes at least one of a plurality of blood vessels adjacent the anatomic lumen to reduce blood flow to the target tissue at the first location.
