  • Patent number: 5829440
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for assembling a contraceptive device made up of a rolled condom having an open end having a ring and a closed end having thereon a ribbed, inverted reservoir, with a pair of strips rolled into the condom on opposite sides thereof for unrolling the condom onto the penis. The condom in unrolled condition is placed on an elongated form and the ends of the strips are brought into contact with the condom and held there by streams of air. A pair of elongated rolling elements are brought into contact with the condom ring and moved in a direction parallel to the form to roll the condom and strips, the preferred rolling elements being in the form of a tube coaxial with the form. The form is provided with a recess in the end thereof for receiving the reservoir when a vacuum is applied to the recess.

  • Patent number: 5477865
Abstract: A condom having an elongated tubular configuration with an open end and a closed end. The closed end of the condom is provided with a reservoir which is positioned inside the condom and which has a free end extending toward the open end of the condom. Preferably, the condom has a pair of strips rolled into the condom on opposite sides thereof with the strips having free ends extending away from each other and with intermediate portions of the strips being temporarily bonded to each other to provide slack in the strips.

  • Patent number: 5425379
Abstract: A contraceptive device having a condom that has a configuration of an elongated tube having an open end and a closed end. A sheath surrounds at least a portion of the tubular condom. The sheath has an attachment end and a distal end. The attachment end of the sheath is attached to the condom at a first point. The distal end of sheath is located at a second point spaced from the first point. An elastic ring is secured to the distal end of the sheath. The sheath is unattached to the condom between the points such that the elastic ring is free to move back and forth between the points.

  • Patent number: 5165422
Abstract: In an apparatus for assembling a contraceptive device, an apparatus for transferring a condom from a conveyor to a moving packaging strip, the condom having on opposite sides thereof a pair of polymeric strips, each of the strips having one end thereof rolled into the condom and the other end thereof depending from the condom, wherein a hand having a plurality of fingers which engage and hold the rolled condom carries the condom from a position above the conveyor to a position above the packaging strip. As the hand is lowered to deposit the condom on the packaging strip a pair of sweeps sweep the depending ends of the polymeric strips to generally horizontal positions such that when the condom is deposited on the packaging strip the polymeric strips will be free of wrinkles and folds.

  • Patent number: 4987905
Abstract: A contraceptive device wherein a condom having a rolled portion is positioned between a pair of sheets which are secured together around the edges thereof to form a package for the condom, the condom being provided with a pair of strips positioned on opposite sides of the condom and each having one end helically rolled into the rolled portion of the condom and the other end thereof extending toward and secured to the sheets at the edges thereof. The strips, which are pulled to unroll the condom, and the condom are provided with sufficient give that the package can be torn into two parts and the condom pulled out of the package without premature unrolling. A tear guide extends across the package at a position on the package coordinated with slack in the strips.

  • Patent number: 4972850
Abstract: A no hands contraceptive device wherein a condom having a rolled portion is provided with a pair of strips positioned on opposite sides of the condom, each of the strips having one end thereof rolled into the rolled portion of the condom and the other end thereof extending from the rolled portion of the condom such that when the strips are pulled the condom will unroll onto the user's penis without being touched by the user's hands. The strips have a width which is sufficiently great to cause the rolled portion of the condom to assume a generally elliptical configuration having a length to width ratio of at least 1.2 to prevent premature unrolling and the tangling of the condom which may occur when the condom partially unrolls prematurely.
