  • Patent number: 7116041
Abstract: A spark electrode assembly has an elongate electrode with an inner insulator arranged for operable attachment to a support structure. The inner insulator surrounds the electrode with one end of the electrode positioned adjacent a ground element across a spark gap and another end of the electrode extending relative to the support structure for attachment to a source of electrical power. An outer insulator is spaced radially outwardly from the inner insulator and surrounds the inner insulator generally adjacent the end of the electrode adjacent the ground element. The inner and outer insulators cooperate to inhibit the formation of a continuous lubrication layer thereon, thereby establishing an area generally free from the lubrication layer between the end of the electrode adjacent the ground element and the support structure.

  • Publication number: 20030221455
Abstract: A burner (16, 116, 216) of a nozzle-mixing type receives a carbonaceous fuel, for example, an acetylene-based fuel, from a fuel line (20) and an oxidant, such as relatively pure oxygen, from an oxidant line (18), the oxidant being supplied to the burner at a rate insufficient to result in complete combustion of the fuel, to thereby produced a sooty flame that is useful in applying lubricating soot particles to a molten glass contacting surface of a glass manufacturing machine. The burner, which is intermittently operated by a solenoid valve (38) in the oxidant line and by a solenoid valve (40) in the fuel line, has a fuel inlet passage (60) that extends along a longitudinal central axis of a tip element (56) of the burner, and an annular inlet passage (64) that surrounds the fuel inlet passage.

  • Patent number: 4953397
Abstract: A wind tunnel for testing aerodynamic surfaces, comprising a rotor defining a cylindrical cavity for circulating a gas around the periphery of the cavity, first and second elements each having inner and outer surfaces extending between a nozzle end and an exhaust end of the wind tunnel, the elements being mounted in opposed relation in the cavity, the inner surfaces of the elements cooperating to define a nozzle, a test region and an exhaust region, the scoop surface disposed proximate the nozzle for diverting a predetermined portion of circulating gas through the nozzle, test region, and exhaust region, the exhaust region being open to the cavity to permit the diverted gas to rejoin the circulating gas, and a sting for mounting the aerodynamic surface in the test region.

  • Patent number: 4297045
Abstract: A paper feed system for a typewriter has its rear feed rollers formed to have minimum shingling and prevent treeing when a plurality of sheets of paper is fed between the platen and the rear feed rollers by rotation of the platen. Each of the rear feed rollers includes an annular outer portion, which is formed of an elastomeric material having a hardness of 30 to 35 Shore A durometer, supported on a hub, which is non-flexible so as to be relatively rigid, having a pair of flanges on opposite sides of the annular outer portion. Each of the annular outer portions has its thickness equal to or less than its width with the spacing between adjacent annular outer portions being greater than the width of each of the annular outer portions.
