  • Patent number: 6530808
Abstract: An electrical connector member for a coaxial cable. The connector member comprises a first section and a second section. The first section has two or more portals therein, each portal adapted to guide an indentor of a crimping tool into a predetermined position over a crimp area of an electrical contact in the member. The second section includes a conductor receiving section of the electrical contact, the conductor receiving section having a diameter adapted to receive a center conductor of the cable. Each crimp area is located on the conductor receiving section, wherein an electrical connection is formed by crimping the electrical contact to the conductor at each crimp area using the indentors. The crimped connection provides a substantially matched impedance in that section of the connector.

  • Patent number: 6084330
Abstract: The invention resides in permanent magnet rotors and methods for assembling the same. In one embodiment, one of more arcuate magnetic elements are disposed around a cylindrical rotor core. In turn, a hollow retaining shell is slip-fit around the magnetic element or elements. Spring biasing members are inserted into longitudinal channels defined by grooves in the core and corresponding grooves or chamfers on the one or more magnetic elements. The spring biasing members prevent relative movement between the core, the magnetic element(s), and the retaining shell. Annular end plates are secured to the ends of the core to seal off the interior of the device. In another embodiment, relative movement between the core, magnetic element(s), and retaining shell is prevented by applying adhesive between those parts.

  • Patent number: 5528778
Abstract: The invention is directed to a seat-bed assembly movable between a seat position and a bed position, and including a seat support, a back support, and a frame having a horizontal support member. A plurality of links, including a first link and a second link, interconnect the seat support and the back support with the frame. The links support the seat support and the back support for movement between the seat position and the bed position. Each of the first link and the second link have one end thereof with an opening therein. The horizontal support member has an upper surface and includes two side plates. An elongated opening extends downwardly from the upper surface. Each side plate has a first guide channel associated with the first link and a second guide channel associated with the second link. A first pin extends through the first link opening and each first guide channel, and a second pin extends through the second link opening and each second guide channel.

  • Patent number: 5490801
Abstract: A method for crimping a terminal (30) to an end of an inner conductor (20) of a coaxial cable (10) so that the resulting crimp joint (22) is precisely located a selected distance rearwardly from a mating point of the contact section (32) with a complementary contact section of a mating terminal affixed to an other coaxial cable. The terminal includes an intermediate section (42) of selected length, reduced diameter and location between the body section (34) and the crimp joint (24), such that, in cooperation with a smaller diameter forward portion (218) of the bore of the connector outer shell (210) coextending therealong, a region of deliberate impedance mismatch results compensating for other mismatches of the coaxial connection for minimized overall mismatch.

  • Patent number: 5327831
Abstract: A printing blanket cylinder assembly (14',16') with an exposed edge (60) at the end of an inwardly turned mounting member (30M, 34M) protectively enclosed within a mounting slot (32) within a blanket cylinder (16) while an outer layer (40) of the blanket (34) is protectively wrapped around a leading edge (30D) of a metal backing plate (30) to both protect intermediate layers (44, 48) of the blanket (34) and the bonds therebetween from the deleterious effects of dampening liquid while concurrently providing a gap (56) of preselected size to achieve a stress-free boundary for the blanket (34) on opposite sides of the gap (56) for optimal vibration reduction. An ejector mechanism (70) is mounted to the cylinder (16) for pushing the mounting member (30M, 34M) out of the slot (32) during removal of the blanket (34) from around the cylinder (16).

  • Patent number: 5329262
Abstract: An RF coaxial connector is disclosed which has an internally floating member which allows both ends of the coaxial connection to remain fixed, with the floating section compensating for any necessary axial or radial float. The floating section includes a pin and socket connection where the pin and socket section has various regions of intentional impedance mismatch. The geometries of the pin and socket are specifically designed such that the reflections are substantially self cancelling at all frequencies and at all various longitudinal positions between the pin and socket section.

  • Patent number: 5217391
Abstract: A coaxial connector assembly (10) includes a plug (40) and jack (140) having respective inner and outer conductors matable at a mating interface. The mating interface (MI) includes a plurality of regions A,B,C of mismatched impedance having varying axial lengths defined by diameter changes of said inner and outer conductors of the plug (40) and jack (140) between respective dielectric bodies (50,162) thereof upon mating. A reduced diameter portion of the plug's outer conductor (52) inwardly from its leading end corresponds with an increased diameter of the plug's inner conductor (46) and is engaged by leading ends (176) of spring arms (170) of a reduced diameter leading end of the jack's outer conductor (160). The leading ends (176) of the spring arms (170) engage the inward surface of the reduced diameter portion of the plug's outer conductor (52) within a range of axial locations accommodating variations in the locations of the plug (40) and jack (140) upon full mating.
