  • Patent number: 5590057
Abstract: The present invention relates to a system and method for training and certifying a user to perform a task. The system includes an input device, output device and a controller. The controller receives input data from the input device and controls the output displayed on the output device. A supervisor interprets the input data, determines the control data to be sent to the output device and determines log data to be sent to a data storage. A comparator determines if certain log data meets or exceeds a preset limit data to determine certifiability of a user. The system presents a user with a pretest, a module containing instructions, information about a certain portion of the task to be performed, as well as mini-simulations and a variety of questions. A full simulation is presented to the user to apply everything that was learned by the user during that certain module. The system then presents a post-test and, through the comparator, determines if the user is certifiable.

  • Patent number: 4811163
Abstract: A circuit for protecting the power contacts (18, 20) of automatic bus transfer equipment, including high speed solid state switches (30, 32) connected across the respective contacts. A timing and steering circuit (36) is responsive to the electrical energization of a solenoid (22) for firing the solid state switch (32) connected across the closed contact (18). A timer (48) is responsive to the opening of the contacts (18). At the elapse of a time period, the firing circuit (34) is caused to operate the solid state switch (30) before the closing of the contacts (20). The solid state switch (30) is maintained operated for a predetermined period of time by a timer (90).

  • Patent number: 4291353
Abstract: A system and method for removing debris and other contaminants from a magnetic head transducer including a head cleaning cartridge containing a flexible sheet of abrasive material for cleaning and polishing the head transducer. The cartridge has a recess in an external surface thereof to distinguish it from a normal recording cartridge. The system includes a sensor member such as a switch for mating with the cartridge recess and indicating that a head cleaning cartridge, rather than a recording cartridge, has been inserted into the system. The system is responsive to a indication from the sensor member that a head cleaning cartridge has been inserted for rotating the abrasive sheet and moving the head transducer back and forth across the abrasive sheet for a predetermined period of time, thereby cleaning and polishing the head transducer.

  • Patent number: 3995890
Abstract: A structure having a movable roof formed in two sections which sections are pivotally secured to the side walls by hinge elements and to the front and rear walls by control arms, wherein the roof panels are pivotal from a closed, horizontal position to an open vertical position disposed alongside the side walls.
