  • Patent number: 5703022
Abstract: A composition is disclosed which is directed to an oxidatively stable environmentally friendly lubricant base fluid comprising(A) at least one sulfurized triglyceride oil and(B) at least one oxidation inhibitor selected from the group consisting of(1) an alkyl phenol of the formula ##STR1## wherein R.sup.4 is an alkyl group containing from 1 up to 24 carbon atoms, R.sup.5 is hydrogen, an alkyl group containing 1 or 2 carbon atoms or R.sup.4, and a is an integer of from 1 up to 4;(2) an ether of the formula ##STR2## wherein R.sup.6 is an alkyl group containing from 1 up to 12 carbon atoms, R.sup.4 is an alkyl group containing from 1 up to 24 carbon atoms and b is an integer of from 1 up to 5; and(3) at least one aromatic amine of the formula ##STR3## wherein R.sup.7 is ##STR4## and R.sup.8 and R.sup.9 are independently a hydrogen or an alkyl group containing from 1 up to 23 carbon atoms.

  • Patent number: 5330635
Abstract: A protective coating process is described for simultaneously sealing and priming the anodic coating applied to a metal compound without the need for elevated temperatures during a subsequent curing step. The process comprises the steps of anodizing the component to be coated, applying the coating composition at an elevated temperature of about 150 degrees F. to thereby simultaneously seal and prime the component and curing the sealed and primed component at ambient temperatures. If cross-linking agents are employed then elevated cure temperatures are utilized.

  • Patent number: 4778609
Abstract: Functional fluids such as metal working fluids are disclosed which include an oil of lubricating viscosity, a sulfurized organic compound, and an amine derivative. The amine derivative is a hindered imine which is the reaction product obtained from reacting a primary amine connected to a tertiary alkyl group with an aldehyde or aldehyde reaction synthon. The inclusion of the hindered imine within the metal working fluid suppresses the generation of hydrogen sulfide gases during the use of the fluid thus improving the environmental and safety characteristics of the fluid.
