  • Patent number: 10077607
Abstract: A drill head borer is configured to be attached to a rotary auger including a helical blade. The borer includes at least one wing extending radially away from a body centered about a longitudinal axis. An aligning ledge is formed in the drill head borer configured to self-align the drill head borer with the helical blade without the need for substantial measurement by a user. The borer further includes a plurality of teeth arranged in a convex configuration, along the wing when viewed from above. When viewed from the side, the teeth are angled at a lifting pitch angle.

  • Publication number: 20160032656
Abstract: An auger has a substantially conical core, which has an axis and a side centered thereabout. From a substantially flat, substantially circular base of the core at a trailing end of the core, the side tapers to form a diameter smaller than that of the base and on the axis at a leading end of the core. The auger includes a shank centered about the axis and fixed to the base for connecting the auger to a collar and includes at least two wings fixed to the core. The base of the core is perpendicular to the axis and is substantially circular. The wings extend radially from the base and along the tapered side of the core to at least the leading end of the core, wherein the wings are configured such that they wind at least partly around the core axis on the tapered side of the core.

  • Patent number: 5143163
Abstract: A replaceable digging tooth for an earth auger including a generally oblong body member and a shank depending from the body member and receivable in a support block of the earth auger. The body member includes an elongated leading surface, an elongated trailing surface and first and second side surfaces. The leading surface, trailing surface and first and second side surfaces terminate in a forward working face having a plurality of inserts. Each insert has a generally cylindrical portion integral a top portion which tapers to a point to form a conical tip. The tips of the inserts are aligned to define a linear cutting line which is inclined with respect to a reference plane perpendicular to the axis of the shank and the axes of the inserts are aligned parallel to form a cutting plane which is inclined with respect to the reference plane.

  • Patent number: 5067262
Abstract: A digging tooth including a body portion and a plurality of hard water resistant conical inserts. The body portion includes a generally planar distal portion, a medial portion, and a bifurcated proximal portion having at least two prongs separated from each other to form a slot. The conical inserts are secured to and spaced along said distal portion and have a generally cylindrical body portion and a top portion which tapers to a point to form a tip, wherein the ratio of the diameter of the cylindrical body portion to the spacing distance between the tips of the conical inserts is between 0.50 and 0.80 and, preferably, 0.72.
