  • Patent number: 5082711
Abstract: A flocked yarn that is formed from a carrier thread with an adhesive coating, and flock that is disposed therearound. The flock is in the form of a flock mixture that includes at least polyamide and polyester flock. The polyester flock assures a high fastness of light for the flocked yarn. To improve the properties of use, the flocked yarn can also be provided with a certain amount of aramid flock.

  • Patent number: 4724664
Abstract: A method and apparatus for producing thread or yarn-like material by electrostatically flocking it or covering it with fibers. Grounded base or carrier threads that are provided with adhesive are moved through an electrostatic field of high voltage, where the surfaces of the carrier threads are flocked all the way around with pretreated short fibers (flock material). During the course of producing the flocked thread or yarn, selective lengths of the carrier threads are nonuniformly flocked in an irregular sequence, with the flock material, in different flock patterns.

  • Patent number: 4671980
Abstract: A method and apparatus for electrostatically flocking a thread-like or yarn-like material. This material rectilinearly and continuously or intermittently is moved through an electrical field which is generated between electrodes having non-planar yet symmetrical potential surfaces. This electrical field preferably is generated between curved potential surfaces of the electrodes. The flock is shot into the adhesive coating of a given thread not only radially but also at an angle. The thread does not have to be turned. As a result, a dense and improved flocking is achieved all around the yarn or thread in a simple and economical manner.

  • Patent number: 4044539
Abstract: Aerodynamically profiled ring travelers of generally ear-shaped configuration and designed for movement in only one direction along the inside of a ring of a yarn twister or like machine with minimized aerodynamic resistance and ring to traveler friction, are disclosed. Any such traveler is characterized by transverse cross-sectional configurations which have, as viewed in the intended direction of movement, an oblong shape with a relatively wider or more blunt leading edge and a relatively narrower or less blunt trailing edge, and which further have an airfoil shape in certain sections of the traveler that are so oriented as to cause lift forces to be generated at those sections in opposition to the centrifugal force and, if desired, also the yarn force, acting on the traveler when the same is in use.

  • Patent number: 3995419
Abstract: A generally ear-shaped ring traveler, designed for movement with minimized ring to traveler friction and aerodynamic resistance along the inside of a ring of a yarn twister or like machine, is disclosed. The cross-sectional configuration of the traveler at any given transverse plane is characterized by an oblong shape having a relatively wider or blunt leading edge and a relatively narrower or less blunt trailing edge, with the cross-section being airfoil-shaped in the main body section and in each of the upper and lower transverse arms so as to cause lift forces opposing the yarn forces and the centrifugal force to be generated, and generally drop-shaped in the transition regions between the arms and the main body section so as to provide a generally neutral streamlining effect. This abstract is not to be taken either as a complete exposition or as a limitation of the present invention, however, the full nature and extent of the invention being discernible only by reference to and from the entire disclosure.

  • Patent number: 3981136
Abstract: Generally ear-shaped ring travelers, designed for movement along the inside face of a ring of a yarn twister or like machine and having streamlined cross-sectional contours at all essential transverse planes for minimizing aerodynamic resistance, are disclosed. The cross-sectional configuration is characterized by an oblong shape having a relatively wider or blunt leading edge and a relatively narrower or less blunt trailing edge. The shape may be symmetrical or asymmetrical with respect to a given longitudinal dividing line of the section, and the dividing line may be either generally parallel to the ring or diverging therefrom, as viewed in the normal direction of movement of the traveler, at an acute angle of not more than about 30.degree.. This abstract is not to be taken either as a complete exposition or as a limitation of the present invention, however, the full nature and extent of the invention being discernible only by reference to and from the entire disclosure.

  • Patent number: 3961470
Abstract: Generally C-shaped ring travelers, designed for movement along the inside of a ring of a yarn twister or like machine and having, for the purpose of minimizing aerodynamic resistance, overall drop-shaped or streamlined cross-sectional contours at all essential transverse planes, are disclosed. The cross-sectional configuration is characterized by an oblong shape having a relatively wider or blunt leading edge and a relatively narrower or less blunt trailing edge. The foot of the traveler has a pair of laterally offset, generally vertical guide surfaces, which face outwardly of the ring and are somewhat convexly shaped to a degree approximating the ring curvature, for engaging the inside edge of the ring flange and the inside face of the web of the ring, and bridging the space between those surfaces a generally horizontal guide surface for engaging the underside of the inner ring flange.
