Abstract: Programmable control devices that rely on time-of-day accuracy maintain that accuracy by determining their location via a global positioning system, recording and timestamping continually measured ambient light via a daylight sensor and real-time clock (RTC) of the programmable control device, determining a mid-darkness time point, comparing that mid-darkness time point with a reference mid-darkness time point for the same location for the same day of the year, and then adjusting the RTC of the programmable control device as necessary. Methods of maintaining time of day in a programmable control device are also provided, as are other aspects.

Abstract: An alarm system for portable chemical monitors comprising a housing configured for attachment to the portable chemical monitor having a twist lock mechanical connector capable of connecting to the portable chemical monitor, at least three pins mounted within the housing that are capable of inserting into the portable chemical monitor, a circuit board electrically connected to the pins and capable of receiving electrical signals from the chemical monitor, and a ceramic disk supported within the housing having an indicator means for generating vibrational movement that provides a audible sound. A method for monitoring for the presence of chemical agents is disclosed.

Abstract: A novel method for the diagnosis of Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (A.I.D.S.) is disclosed, involving the use of immunocytoadherence (rosette inhibition) techniques. The method is based on the discovery that the lymphocytes of A.I.D.S. patients are unusually resistant to antithymocyte serum, and that the plasma of A.I.D.S. patients is capable of conferring this resistance to normal lymphocytes. Accordingly, the diagnostic method involves performing rosette inhibition tests on the patient's lymphocytes or on lymphocytes from a healthy donor after treatment with the patient's plasma. Any observable lessening of inhibition in comparison with a control is related to the presence of A.I.D.S.
