    Abstract: A molded bonded abrasive grinding wheel adapted for relatively rough grinding operations is provided with a plurality of protuberances spaced in a predetermined pattern along the peripheral surface thereof and extending substantially orthogonally therefrom to define a textured grinding face. The protuberances are molded integrally with the grinding wheel and are formed by placing a perforated, or textured annular insert in a grinding wheel mold during molding wherein the insert is molded in-situ about the peripheral surface of the grinding wheel. The insert is removed from the peripheral surface after molding or during grinding to expose the protuberances defined by the perforations of the insert.

    Abstract: A two zoned grinding wheel is disclosed having a lower section or zone composed of bonded abrasive grain and an upper zone or section made up of bonded particles of a material that is softer than the abrasive grain and therefore less abrasive. The wheel is especially suitable for being held in clamps or a chuck when being used, with the clamps or chuck contacting the wheel on the upper less abrasive section thus greatly reducing wear on said clamp or chuck.

    Abstract: An improved resin bonded grinding wheel composition is shown making use of a kyanite or sillimanite or andalusite filler or mixtures thereof. More particularly the grinding wheel is a hot pressed phenol formaldehyde wheel having an alumina-zirconia abrasive with a kyanite additive therein. These wheels can be used for heavy duty metal grinding and have been determined to be especially useful for the snag grinding of titanium metal.
