  • Patent number: 5002817
Abstract: There is disclosed a form liner having a thickness no greater than 0.5 inch and having planar dimensions of approximately 2 feet by 4 feet, with one of its planar surfaces having a molded negative impression of a desirable surface relief pattern for a concrete wall. The form liner is manufactured by processing pre-formed sheets or panels of expanded plastic foam, typically expanded polystyrene foam. These stock panels are obtained in approximately 3/8 inch thickness and a positive pattern of the desired relief is pressed into the panel under sufficient heat, about 200 degrees F. and pressure, about 2500 psi, to mold one of the smooth surfaces of the panel into a negative impression of the desired surface relief pattern. The molding can be accomplished in a standard compression equipment with cycle times of approximately ten seconds. This permits the inexpensive and facile manufacture of these panels at sites removed from the polystyrene foam expander plant.

  • Patent number: 4991869
Abstract: A cover assembly for an occupant restraint system is formed of relatively irrupturable material and includes longitudinal and lateral portions which overlie like portions of a container housing an inflatable occupant restraint cushion. The juxtaposed edges of these portions are arranged which are juxtaposed to each other across a tear line of the container. One edge of each pair terminates in a U shaped return bent flange and the other edge of each pair terminates in an S shaped return bent flange having a flap which extends across the tear line and abuts the U shaped flange.

  • Patent number: 4903986
Abstract: A modular occupant restraint system includes a container for the folded cushion and a cover for the container. The container has lines of perforations which subdivide the walls thereof into two sets of flaps. One set of flaps permits deployment of the folded cushion along alternate paths laterally of the system and generally parallel to the driver's torso. The other set of flaps permits deployment of the cushion along the intended path toward the driver's torso. The cover has weakened lines which subdivide the cover into flaps generally coextensive with those of the container. The folded cushion has fan folded chordal portions which are located opposite the first set of flaps of the container to forcibly open such flaps.

  • Patent number: 4840066
Abstract: A measurement system employs a method and apparatus for uniquely tagging each of a plurality of transducers, automatically recognizing the tag for identifying the transducer and automatically adjusting electronic parameters of the system for enhancing performance with a selected transducer. In a preferred embodiment, a resistor is inserted in a piezoelectric transducer of an ultrasonic thickness gauge, a current source and A to D converter measure the resistor and a microprocessor-based logic system adjusts measurement parameters of the gauge to be automatically optimized for the associated transducer characteristics.

  • Patent number: 4796598
Abstract: A compound crossbow in which a forwardly disposed retractable arrow launch ramp is utilized to retain an arrow in position for discharge. Activation of the trigger discharges the arrow and simultaneously moves the retractable arrow launch ramp to a position which does not interfere with the forward travelling arrow. The retractable arrow rest permits the archer to move without the risk of the arrow moving into a position precluding the archer from discharging the arrow. The arrow launch ramp is removed completely from the flight path of the arrow prior to the arrow arriving at the arrow launch ramp position.

  • Patent number: 4688588
Abstract: A method for facilitating the flow of material in fines. The fines are selected from silica based materials and coals; and the level of impurity in the fines and comprising metal oxide, carbonate and sulphides in the case of silica materials, and coal ash in the case of coals, is determined. A thick slurry of the fines in water is prepared, and a quantity of dispersant proportional to the determined level of impurity is added to the slurry to form a pumpable slurry.
