Patent number: 7975974Abstract: An adjustable lamp holder has a mounting structure arrayed about a longitudinal axis. A pair of hollow pivot pillars extends from the mounting structure parallel to the longitudinal axis and a receptacle is positioned on the mounting structure parallel to the longitudinal axis and substantially opposite the pivot pillars. A body with a body axis coaxial with the longitudinal axis has a pair of pivots formed thereon for engaging the pivot pillars. A projection is formed on the body substantially opposite the pivots and an angle adjuster, having a proximal end and a distal end, has the proximal end positioned in the projection and the distal end positioned in the receptacle. Movement of the angle adjuster tips the angle of the lamp.Type: GrantFiled: December 4, 2008Date of Patent: July 12, 2011Assignee: Valeo Sylvania LLCInventors: Roger A. Schaefer, Robert L. Patent number: 7587708Abstract: A method, computer program product, and computer system for testing converted source code features appearing in computer software of a computer system. N iterations are performed. Each iteration identifies M converted source code features appearing in P computer programs of the computer software. The M converted source code features have been converted by compiler conversion software in order that the P computer programs may be compiled into executable program codes by a new version of a compiler. Additionally, each selects P1 computer programs of the P computer programs for subsequent testing of the P1 computer programs. P1 is less than P. The P1 computer programs are selected such that the testing may be used to determine to a degree of confidence to which the compiler conversion software has correctly converted the M source code features in the P computer programs.Type: GrantFiled: July 20, 2004Date of Patent: September 8, 2009Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventor: Robert L. Patent number: 7302548Abstract: A method for communicating in a multi-processor environment is provided that includes generating a bit at an originating processor associated with a message to be communicated to a destination processor. The bit is positioned in a send register associated with the originating processor and transposed from the send register of the originating processor to a receive register of the destination processor. An interrupt signal is then generated in response to the bit being transposed.Type: GrantFiled: June 18, 2002Date of Patent: November 27, 2007Assignee: Cisco Technology, Inc.Inventors: John W. Mitten, William R. Lee, Trevor S. Garner, Robert L. King

Patent number: 7046663Abstract: In a pipeline network processor, a packet intercept feature determines whether a packet is to be intercepted based on the inbound and outbound port through which the packet travels and based on the source and destination of the packet. When a packet enters the pipeline network processor, a determination is made as to whether the inbound and outbound ports are enabled for packet intercept. If so, a source and/or destination media access control address is compared to a list of configured intercept addresses. If a match is found, a copy of the packet is diverted to an intercept receiver and the original packet is forwarded to its intended destination.Type: GrantFiled: August 17, 2001Date of Patent: May 16, 2006Assignee: Cisco Technology, Inc.Inventors: Leo Temoshenko, Hugh Nhan, Charles M. Parker, Robert L. King, Jonathan D. Douglas, Nathan A. Mitchell, George R. Everhart, Douglas W. Currie

Patent number: 6956486Abstract: A bathtub water level monitoring system for alerting a user upon acquisition of a pre-selected water level in a bathtub. The bathtub water level monitoring system includes a main unit adapted for attachment to an interior face of a bathtub, the main unit having a plurality of water sensors aligned along a lower portion of the main unit. The main unit further includes a transmitter and alarm system for producing an audible alarm upon the water sensors detecting a pre-determined water level. The system includes a remote alarm device for giving an audible alarm upon reception of a signal transmitted from the transmitter of the main unit.Type: GrantFiled: October 24, 2003Date of Patent: October 18, 2005Inventor: Robert L. Patent number: 6457176Abstract: A host system and a local system (work station) comprise a system for updating source code. The host system includes a compiler and any necessary tools for compilation of source code which is characterized by, for example, database statements. While the work station also includes a compiler, it lacks tools for translating the database statements. Consequently, the host system expands and marks the original source to create a marked expanded source file which is in a form compilable at work station without the tools. The work station then modifies the source file, and returns a processed source file to the host system, where the marking and preprocessing are undone and the source file returned to its original form (but now as changed by the work station).Type: GrantFiled: June 25, 1999Date of Patent: September 24, 2002Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventor: Robert L. Patent number: 6389385Abstract: A safe system and method for reversibly translating source code between unlike character sets, or formats, includes a mapping table of syntactically necessary characters and, possibly, other frequently used characters, for translating source characters from a first format to a second format. A marker character is used to replace other characters in the source code while preserving the original, replaced source characters in a comment file. Upon reverse translating, syntactically necessary characters are translated back into the first format using the mapping table, and marker characters are replaced by original source characters from the comment file.Type: GrantFiled: July 2, 1999Date of Patent: May 14, 2002Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventor: Robert L. Patent number: 5993034Abstract: A reflector is provided which surrounds a light source that has emissions in both the visible and radio frequency ranges. The electrically conductive reflecting coating of the reflector is connected to the system electrical ground so that the radio frequency component is effectively shielded by the reflector. The visible component of the spectrum emitted by the source escapes the reflector cavity after at least one reflection from the reflector surface and forms the required beam pattern.Type: GrantFiled: February 21, 1997Date of Patent: November 30, 1999Assignee: Valeo Sylvania L.L.C.Inventors: Frank Paul Kace, Jr., Robert L. King, Robert J. Schmitt, Jr., Richard J. Smaglick, Yakov G. Soskind, Mark A. Verplank, Douglas A. Waltrip

Patent number: 5577833Abstract: A vehicle headlamp reflector comprises a concave shell having a reflective surface, the shell including multiple vertical panels defining the reflective surface. The panels include at least one panel having therein on the reflective surface multiple vertical ribs defining alternating ridges and grooves. The ridges and grooves are of a rounded configuration, of substantially equal width throughout their lengths, and extend substantially from top to bottom of the panel.Type: GrantFiled: June 13, 1995Date of Patent: November 26, 1996Assignee: Osram Sylvania Inc.Inventors: George J. English, Robert L. King

Patent number: 5197794Abstract: A vehicle lamp aiming device is disclosed having an adjustment shaft with a first marking, and a mounting nut with a second marking. One of the other of the markings is formed on a clip firmly, but still adjustably mounted to either the shaft or nut as the case may be. Initial proper alignment of the adjustment shaft amy be made with respect to the mounting nut. The vehicle lamp is then in proper alignment. The adjustable marking clip is then moved to set the lamp calibration. A replacement lamp may then be brought into proper alignment by threading the adjustment shaft to align the alignment marks. By using a firm clip, subsequent, inadvertent resetting of the clip may be avoided.Type: GrantFiled: December 24, 1990Date of Patent: March 30, 1993Assignee: GTE Products CorporationInventors: Michael T.
