  • Patent number: 12281026
Abstract: A copper ferrite synthesis describing the use of cuprous, ferric, and borate ions is disclosed. Cuprous and ferric compounds react with sodium borate to form cuprous ferric oxide precipitates. Oxidizing a cuprous ferric oxide with an oxygen enhanced flame, synthesizes copper ferrite. The cuprous ferric oxide may be reduced to nanoparticle size via pulverization to produce copper ferrite nanoparticles.

  • Patent number: 12240765
Abstract: The present disclosure is drawn to a method for producing magnetite comprising the steps of: forming a ferrous ion solution; forming a ferric ion solution; and mixing and heating the ferrous ion solution and the ferric ion solution with a boric ion solution to precipitate magnetite. The disclosure is drawn to a borate method for producing magnetite wherein a ferrous ion compound and a ferric ion compound, in stoichiometric ratio of 1:2, are precipitated with a boric ion compound.

  • Patent number: 5652190
Abstract: Magnetic polymer resins capable of efficient removal of actinides and heavy metals from contaminated water are disclosed together with methods for making, using, and regenerating them. The resins comprise polyamine-epichlorohydrin resin beads with ferrites attached to the surfaces of the beads. Markedly improved water decontamination is demonstrated using these magnetic polymer resins of the invention in the presence of a magnetic field, as compared with water decontamination methods employing ordinary ion exchange resins or ferrites taken separately.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 31, 1995
Date of Patent: July 29, 1997
Assignee: The United States of America as represented by the United States Department of Energy
Inventors: Robert L. Kochen, James D. Navratil
