Abstract: Apparatuses, systems, and methods for the collection and sampling of agents (including organisms and pathogens) to determine the health of an animal colony. The apparatus includes a perforated housing that incorporates a collection media. The collection media is configured to collect a sample from a target animal, such as a mouse or rat, through the perforations of the housing when the target animal interacts with the perforated housing. The collected sample may include dust, feces, fur, urine, saliva, or other aspect of the target animal's environment.

Abstract: A breathing apparatus designed to display at least one condition associated with the breathing apparatus to the user of the breathing apparatus. The breathing apparatus includes a breathing mask, a display assembly and a sensor assembly. The display assembly includes at least one display designed to display at least one condition of the display assembly and/or the sensor assembly. The breathing apparatus design can be designed to enable a third party to view at least one condition of the display assembly and/or the sensor assembly while a user is wearing the breathing mask. The breathing apparatus can include a sealing arrangement for forming a seal between a circuit board and/or other electronic components and a housing of the display assembly and/or the sensor assembly.

Abstract: A system for effecting the braking of a vehicle. The system is intended to be used with a vehicle which has an axle coaxial with a wheel engaging the surface over which the vehicle travels and which is rotatable with that wheel. The braking system includes a closed hydraulic circuit and a pump in the circuit which has an impeller rotatable by the axle as the vehicle moves over the surface. The invention includes structure for selectively, and sequentially, increasing the restriction of flow through the hydraulic circuit so that, as flow is restricted, a back-pressure is induced in the pump to apply a drag to the axle in a measure commensurate to the amount the flow is restricted.

Abstract: A transparent substrate is coated with consecutive layers of chromium, chromium oxides, and a metal oxide, thereby producing a transparent article having low visible light transmittance and low film side reflectance, which is particularly useful as an automotive or architectural solar control glazing.
