  • Patent number: 4671352
Abstract: In the representative embodiment of the invention described herein, formation-treating apparatus is adapted to be dependently supported in a well bore from a pipe string and which includes upper and lower telescoped body members adapted to be selectively moved between upper and lower operating positions for controlling the injection of treating fluids into one or more earth formations traversed by the well bore. A pair of spaced packer elements are mounted on the lower member above and below a discharge port and cooperatively arranged for isolating a well bore interval that is to be treated by discharging one or more treating fluids in the pipe string from the port. To control the injection of treating fluids, retrievable valve means are also cooperatively arranged within the body members and adapted to be alternatively seated on upper and lower full-bore valve seats in the upper and lower bodies in response to movement of the bodies to their operating positions.

  • Patent number: 4638860
Abstract: In the representative embodiment of the apparatus of the invention disclosed herein, a packer plug is arranged with sealing means for closing off the central bore of the mandrel of a packer that is set in a well bore for selectively isolating upper and lower formation intervals. When the plug is set in the packer mandrel, collet fingers on the body of the new and improved plug for threadedly engaging internal threads in the upper end of the packer mandrel. To secure the plug against unwanted release, a retainer member is cooperatively secured to the plug mandrel by a shear pin which will fail only at a predetermined force.

  • Patent number: 4493374
Abstract: A hydraulic setting tool is shown of the type used to set a downhole device in a well bore. The setting tool includes an elongated tubular body adapted to be supported from a wireline within the well bore. The body has an outer sleeve portion and an inner piston portion slidably received within the sleeve portion. The inner piston portion and the outer sleeve portion are engagable with a device to be set whereby opposite relative movement of the piston portion and the sleeve portion acts to set the device. An electric motor is carried within the tubular body and is connected through the wireline with a source of electric power at the well surface. A hydraulic pump is carried within the tubular body having a fluid intake and a fluid output and is coupled to the electric motor to be driven thereby.

  • Patent number: 4120699
Abstract: In one exemplary embodiment, the efficiency of an acoustic-energy-type cleaner for vessels, such as heat exchangers, is substantially increased by propagating through the fluid in the vessel, a plurality of opposing acoustic wave trains, and continuously varying at least the frequency or phase relationship of said opposing wave trains for causing constructive interference between said opposing acoustic waves to create a series of augmented acoustic waves that are spatially displaced in relation to each other and successive in time interval for sweeping over the surfaces of the body to be cleaned.
