Patent number: 10189221Abstract: A transfer ring of the type having a plurality of shoes arranged in a substantially circular configuration to define an inwardly-facing segmented cylindrical gripping surface, and a shoe for use in such a transfer ring, are disclosed. Each shoe comprises an arcuate interior surface defining a segment of the cylindrical gripping surface. The interior surface of each shoe has a first arcuate edge and an opposite second arcuate edge arranged substantially parallel to one another, and opposite first and second end edges extending between respective ends of said first and second arcuate edges. Each first end edge of each arcuate surface is mounted adjacent the second end edge of an adjacent arcuate surface, and the first end edge of at least one of the arcuate surfaces defines a varied or irregular shape along its arcuate surface.Type: GrantFiled: October 12, 2015Date of Patent: January 29, 2019Assignee: Davian Enterprises, LLCInventors: Patrick Jones, Ian Smith, William Jones, Robert L. Marcus, Jr.

Patent number: 9855715Abstract: A tire building drum is disclosed. A thrust plate is mounted at a tapered end of a central shaft. An actuator is slidable along the shaft between first and second positions. Arcuate segments are arranged in a circumferential relationship about the shaft to define a working surface. First guide rails are slidably secured to the thrust plate, with a first end of each first rail mounted near a first end of one of the segments and a second end extending radially inwardly along the thrust plate. Second guide rails are slidably secured to the actuator, with a first end of each second rail mounted near a second end of one of the segments and a second end extending radially and axially inwardly along the actuator. Each of the guide rail second ends extends radially inward toward the inwardly tapered shaft portion when the actuator is in the first position.Type: GrantFiled: June 4, 2014Date of Patent: January 2, 2018Assignee: Davian Enterprises, LLCInventor: Robert L. Marcus, Jr.

Publication number: 20140360672Abstract: A multi-piece sealing sleeve is disclosed. The multi-piece sealing sleeve includes annular first and second layers of a substantially air-impermeable material. The first layer has an inner edge sized to surround a base portion of the tire shaping drum. An outer edge of the first layer extends radially outwardly to overlie at least a portion of a radially expandable and collapsible structure defined by the tire shaping drum. The second layer is sized to overlie and establish sealing engagement with at least a portion of the first layer and a bead seat defined by the radially expandable and collapsible structure of the tire shaping drum. The first and second layers cooperate to establish a substantially airtight seal between the tire shaping drum base portion and the bead seat.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 27, 2014Publication date: December 11, 2014Inventors: Robert L.
