  • Patent number: 7605720
Abstract: Systems and methods for selecting, sequencing, and presenting traffic events to viewers. This may involve using a prioritizing scheme that estimates the proximity or relevance of the event to the viewers by associating the event with a geographic zone and the viewer with a localized service area served by a particular distribution points of the television content distribution system. In some cases, for each localized service area, zones are given priority values that are used when prioritizing the relevance of traffic events associated with those zones. For viewers in a given localized service area, a first zone may have a higher priority than a second zone, such that in prioritizing traffic events, events associated with the first zone are given a higher priority than events occurring in the second zone. Different zone priority schemes may be associated with a given localized service area at different times of day, week, or year.

  • Patent number: 6533446
Abstract: A light, such as for an airport taxiway, in which a base includes a light source which outputs light. The light source may be an LED (light emitting diode) light source which is highly energy efficient and which has a long life. A light guide receives and guides light output from the light source. The light guide further extends out from the light source. A reflector is positioned in the light guide and reflects the light guided through the light guide to provide the appropriate illumination.

  • Publication number: 20020122309
Abstract: A beacon lamp which may find use in and around airports, communication towers, etc. The beacon lamp includes a plurality of light emitting diodes (LEDs) its as light source. The plurality of LEDs can be mounted on an LED module which is in turn secured to a base. A transparent outer cover is provided to cover the plurality of LEDs. The LED module can include heat fins to enhance heat sinking properties. The outer cover and base can also include portions to improve free air convection to also improve heat sinking properties. The LEDs may be connected in parallel to provide redundancy in the event that certain LEDs burn out. The beacon lamp is also structured to allow the outer cover to be easily removed from the base to access the LED modules, to allow easy relamping of the beacon lamp.

  • Patent number: 5673772
Abstract: A snowmobile ski-type runner braking system provides a braking "claw" at the trailing end of each snowmobile ski-type runner that can be activated by the operator from his console to pivot downward into digging engagement with the snow to help brake the snowmobile. The claws are activated in unison so that balanced braking force is applied to each trailing ski end on both sides of the snowmobile. Even with the claws extended into their digging mode, the operator can still steer by turning the skis. Each claw can be actuated by an electric motor and power screw mechanism mounted on the runner. Alternately, each claw can be actuated by a hydraulic piston/cylinder mechanism mounted on the runner.

  • Patent number: 5337798
Abstract: A distributor funnel for receiving friction material and for dispensing the friction material to a mold for a friction product is disclosed. The container comprises first and second half bodies. Pivot joints connect the first and second half bodies pivotally such that they are pivotable relative to one another about a pivot axis. The two half bodies resemble a duck bill which, in a closed position, form a closed funnel receiving the friction material. The two half bodies are spring-biased into the closed position. When the two half bodies are squeezed together at the top, the friction material is dispensed at the bottom of the funnel.
