    Abstract: A blow mold assembly is disclosed having removable neck insert mold components for forming features of a container for engaging a removable container closure and manually operable retention devices for releasably retaining the neck insert mold components with mating mold components of the mold assembly. Advantageously, each manually operable retention device includes a clamp mechanism movable between a release position and a clamp position by manual operation and the clamp mechanism is effective to resist forces acting on the clamp to move the clamp to a release position when the clamp is in the clamp position. Each manually operable retention device is retained with an associated mating mold component when a neck insert mold component is removed from or installed to the mold assembly.

    Abstract: A mold assembly for blow molding comprises first and second mating mold components, each mating mold component comprising molding surfaces open to a mating face of the mold component and defining the exterior of an article to be molded from a tubular parison and at least one replaceable element being attached thereto by retaining means accessible from the mating face thereof whereby the replaceable elements may be installed and removed while the mating mold component is mounted in a press of a blow molding machine. The replaceable elements comprise any of inserts comprising molding surfaces defining a neck portion of an article to be molded, a blow needle to pierce the wall of and pressurize the parison and heat pipes for transferring heat from the molding surfaces. A blow molding machine comprises a press mechanism for operating a mold assembly and a mold assembly according to the invention mounted thereto.

    Abstract: A pinch-off neck assembly for use in a container blow mold system. The assembly includes a base having a parting face and portions defining a recess in the parting face. An insert is received in the recess and the insert includes an insert parting face which is coincident with the base parting face. The insert also includes surfaces that define a neck finish cavity for forming a neck finish on the molded container. An adjustment mechanism axially adjusts the positioning of the insert in the recess relative to the base.
