Patent number: 12147745Abstract: An apparatus for conducting an engineering analysis of a structural product is provided. The apparatus produces a computer-aided design (CAD) model of the structural product including component parts joined by fasteners and produces a finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) model of the structural product from the CAD model. The apparatus assigns one or more electrical properties to a mesh of elements representing the component parts and fasteners, and performs a finite-difference time-domain analysis on the FDTD model with the one or more electrical properties assigned, and with the FDTD model exposed to simulated lightning, to predict an impact of lightning on the fasteners and therefrom generate a corresponding prediction. The apparatus produces an output based on the corresponding prediction that indicates one or more levels of the impact of lightning on the fasteners and displays the output to facilitate design or manufacture of the structural product.Type: GrantFiled: September 25, 2018Date of Patent: November 19, 2024Assignee: THE BOEING COMPANYInventors: Benjamin A. Patent number: 12076280Abstract: A cot can include a support frame that extends between a front end and a back end. A front leg and a back leg can be slidingly coupled to the support frame. A front actuator can be coupled to the front leg and slide the front leg to retract and extend the front leg. A back actuator can be coupled to the back leg and slide the back leg to retract and extend the front leg. One or more processors can execute machine readable instructions to receive signals from one or more sensors indicative of the front end of the cot and the front leg. The one or more processors can actuate the back actuator to extend the back leg to raise the back end of the cot, when the front end of the cot is supported by a surface and the front leg is retracted a predetermined amount.Type: GrantFiled: December 20, 2019Date of Patent: September 3, 2024Assignee: Ferno-Washington, INC.Inventors: Nicholas V. Patent number: 9511598Abstract: An apparatus includes an inkjet assembly having inkjet nozzles through each of which ink flows at a nominal flow rate as it is ejected from the nozzle onto a substrate. Ink is held under a nominal negative pressure associated with a characteristic of a meniscus of the ink in the nozzle when ejection of ink from the nozzle is not occurring. The apparatus includes recirculation flow paths, each flow path having a nozzle end at which it opens into one of the nozzles and another location spaced from the nozzle end that is to be subjected to a recirculation pressure lower than the nominal negative pressure so that ink is recirculated from the nozzle through the flow path at a recirculation flow rate.Type: GrantFiled: September 28, 2015Date of Patent: December 6, 2016Assignee: FUJIFILM Dimatix, Inc.Inventors: Robert L Wells, Jr., Bailey Smith, Marlene McDonald, William R. Letendre, Matthew Aubrey, John Kelly, Darrell Herrick, Robert A. Hasenbein
