  • Patent number: 6057443
Abstract: Dimorpholinodiethylether is treated with hydrogen over a reducing catalyst to improve its isocyanate stability.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: January 29, 1997
Date of Patent: May 2, 2000
    Assignee: Huntsman Petrochemical Corporation
    Inventor: Robert LeRoy Zimmerman
  • Patent number: 5700846
Abstract: A process, and the product produced thereby, for preparing a polyurea foam which comprises reacting an aliphatic polyamine having an average functionality from about 2 to about 6 wherein about 55 to about 95 percent of the functional groups are primary amine functional groups and about 5 to about 40 percent of the functional groups are primary or secondary hydroxyl groups with a polyisocyanate in the presence of a blowing agent that comprises water. The use of polyether polyamines having primary hydroxyl groups improves the cross-linking characteristics of the polyurea foam.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: August 18, 1995
Date of Patent: December 23, 1997
    Assignee: Huntsman Petrochemical Corporation
Inventors: Robert Allison Grigsby, Jr., Robert LeRoy Zimmerman
  • Patent number: 5646235
Abstract: A method is provided for the preparation of tertiary polyamines by alkylating a polyamine having at least two primary amino groups without the use of excess solvent. More particularly, a tertiary amine is produced by reductively alkylating a polyamine with a carbonyl compound, such as formaldehyde, in a reaction zone while in the presence of a hydrogenation catalyst and hydrogen under reductive conditions. The carbonyl compound is continuously supplied to the reaction zone.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: June 18, 1996
Date of Patent: July 8, 1997
    Assignee: Huntsman Petrochemical Corporation
Inventors: Robert LeRoy Zimmerman, Wheeler Conrad Crawford, Rodney Frederick Lloyd
  • Patent number: 4026837
Abstract: New catalysts for isocyanurate foams comprising the potassium salt of a carboxy-terminated butadiene-acrylonitrile copolymer. The novel foams are obtained by the polymerization of an aromatic polyisocyanate, and a polyether or polyester polyol in the presence of a blowing agent and said copolymer useful as an isocyanurate group formation catalyst. The novel foams are useful in preparing rigid, flexible, semirigid or semi-flexible materials such as panels, slabs or sprayed foam surfaces.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: September 19, 1975
Date of Patent: May 31, 1977
    Assignee: Texaco Development Corporation
Inventors: Robert LeRoy Zimmerman, Thomas Howard Austin
