    Abstract: An example article includes a substrate and a barrier coating on the substrate. The barrier coating includes a matrix including a rare-earth disilicate extending from an inner interface facing the substrate to an outer surface opposite the inner interface. The barrier coating includes a graded volumetric distribution of rare-earth oxide rich (REO-rich) phase regions in the matrix along a direction from the inner interface to the outer surface. The graded volumetric distribution defines a first volumetric density of the REO-rich phase regions at a first region of the matrix adjacent the outer surface. The graded volumetric distribution defines a second volumetric density of the REO-rich phase regions at a second region of the matrix adjacent the inner surface. The second volumetric density is different from the first volumetric density. An example technique includes forming the barrier coating on the substrate of a component.

    Abstract: In some embodiments, a method for processing an optical fiber includes: drawing an optical fiber through a draw furnace, conveying the optical fiber through a flame reheating device downstream from the draw furnace, wherein the flame reheating device comprises one or more burners each comprising: a body having a top surface and an opposing bottom surface, an opening within the body extending from the top surface through the body to the bottom surface, wherein the optical fiber passes through the opening, and one or more gas outlets within the body; and igniting a flammable gas provided by the one or more gas outlets to form a flame encircling the optical fiber passing through the opening, wherein the flame heats the optical fiber by at least 100 degrees Celsius at a heating rate exceeding 10,000 degrees Celsius/second.

The device may calculate an initial number of segments in a last OFDM symbol of the number of OFDM symbols. The device may calculate a number of data bits that can be filled within an initial number of OFDM symbols. The device may determine an LDPC codeword length based on the calculated number of data bits that can be filled. The device may cause to send the frame to one or more devices based on the LDPC codeword length.

    Abstract: A circuit and method are described for generating a low jitter output clock having an arbitrary non-integer divide ratio relative to a high-frequency clock. Integer divide ratios of the high-frequency clock may be achieved by dividing the high-frequency clock by the reference clock and phase locking the output clock to the high-frequency clock. Non-integer divide ratios can be achieved by dividing the high-frequency clock by the nearest integer, rounded down, and then delaying the resultant output clock by the modulus of the division. The delay can then be rotated across to create a clock with a non-integer divide ratio relative to the high-frequency clock. By doing so, a high-frequency clock may be used that is not constrained by having a frequency that is an integer multiple of each desired component-specific output clock signal.

The coordinated power throttling mechanism includes the rack providing a power throttling signal to the payload and the payload executing the power throttling upon detection of the throttling signal. The payload may detect the throttling signal and, after a delay, execute the power throttling. The delay may ensure that all payloads within the rack have detected the power throttling signal.
